frankencar exhaust

Well just spent the last two days installing my frankencar catback. All i have to say is what a pain in the rear. had to drop part of the suspension to get it on. That was the first problem. Then i get it on and it rattles like crazy. So i fix that. With some minor modifaction. Then today i have leakes. My dad and i used an air racket and everything trying to get the pieces to fit properly. AND to no avail still leaking. Seems like the gaskets that come with the exhaust arent thick enough. So this weekend i have to get some new ones and try that. If that doesnt work i have no idea. If any one has suggestions or is having the same problem i would like to hear from you. Sorry just venting a little.

ps

Now i am done venting. Leaks are fixed and the exhaust sounds good. Nice low rumble reminiscent of a 350z or g35 coupe. Im happy with the product, looks great, sounds good, just wish it was a little easier to install. And maybe my bad luck is isolated. Time will tell.

Did you have a problem fitting your gaskets from the resonator teh the cat?

I had a huge problem w/ it and just gave up, using the OE. No leaks and still sounds/works great

actually not with the gasket, getting the old studs and bolts out i did. Had to cut off one of them. THe gasket thats leaking is the one from the resonator to the b-pipe. Also eleebob7 do you have a problem with your exhaust rattling? I did and still do a little. Going to have to figure something out. Im going to try another gasket and go from there. If not im still going to call them and see if they have a solution.

Damn...has anyone else had these issues.. ?

I cant imagine Steve made such a deficient product. I want to get the rear section, because I need to quiet down my Max , for Hotshot headers. But If it has fittment issues. I dont want another Warspeed nightmare on my hands ! ..

the product itself is very good and the sound is awsome and not loud at all. I like the way it looks and sounds. ive got complaments already on it. And if the leak i have is just a gasket that i cant complain that much. It was just a little frustrating not knowing what i needed to do to get the exhaust on. Now that i know, it would have been easier and less frustrating going into it in the first place. But it should go very well with a set of hotshot headers which will be my next mod. Hopefully real soon.

ok all fixed. New gasket did the trick. Sounds great with my injen intake. And the rattling was fixed with some hose clamps on the rubber exhaust hangers to hold it and allign it. I will take some pics. If anyone can host them for me, please let me know. Thanks

I wonder if the issues you had with your install were an isolated case. There is another thread in the 5th Gen forum about another Frankencar Catback install. From what this guy is stating, he didn't have too many install issues with his setup.

Do you have an auto or 6spd? I want to get an exhaust that won't be too loud and won't have a drone. On my 99 Max I had the Greddy EVO and it was horrible, I took it off after a week because it was so annoying especially with the auto. Now with the 2k2 I want something thats a little louder than stock and sounds good but not too loud or droney...

6 speed. And the frankencar would be great for what you are looking for. Its a little louder than stock and the sound is low and not annoying. Honestly its probably exactly what you are looking for.
