Progress gives a nice drop. I have a set for sale of fronts, paired with Maxspeed rears at the present time. They ride firm but they are not bouncy at all. The handling is improved with this setup. Ride quality isn't sacrificed much.

i'm not looking for too big of a drop since most of the roads where i live are in either bumpy or in poor potholeish condition.

I just installed MaxSpeed/Tokico HP's on my '02 SE (89k miles) today and am utterly speechless. I've got a grin from ear to ear.

Ride is almost stock, stance is slightly lower and wow! That's about all I can say right now.

Oh, and I did cut the bumpstops to avoid any possibilty of bottoming out.

Hey All~
My question is I have a 01 AE max and its lowered. Just installed the H-Techs, and the illumina's. Will a 245/35/20 wheel package fit with clearance? I ordered the wheels already because the 18's i wanted where backordered for over 2 months, and these wheels are the only ones out there I like on the car. The place I ordered the wheels from wouldn't get this new 20" package in to there shop for a couple of days, so I need anyone who knows if it will work to guide me before i have no time to cancel. Please help me......

How can identify the springs that are on the Front of my MAX? They are black with a "Blue dot" on the Passenger side & a "White dot" on the Drivers side. Car had Tokico Illluminas when I bought it now have Monroes suspension is very noisy

I wouldn't lower it at all the ride might get rough. I don't notice much of a gap except for the front of my car the back is fine. Leave it stock

I just installed tokico hp blues/progress springs today,

no more floatiness, a little more stiff than stock, much improved handling, great ride quality! :-D I'm satisfied

wheels have more to do with that than lowering.
your ride is already rough just because you have those ship anchor rims.

my ride is really not rough it's a little bouncy but it has worn out some suspension components like the sway bar links and struts but I am just waiting for some 19" m45 wheels to come up for cheap money and I will be swapping. The 20"s will be for sale soon.

I just replace my H-tech with an Eibach set this weekend. I felt the difference right from the start. Better handling, has the stock feel to it not as bouncy as the H-Tech.

The H-tech were not to bad, they were good around my neighborhood and HWY since they have pretty good roads.

But when I started driving into downtown and freeways around I would bottom out and bounce constantly. The roads around there are pretty bad and good place to test your suspension.

My setup is now is Eibach / Tokicko setting - 3

Still running H-Techs/Illuminas 5/5 setting. After riding tonight through some rediculous Brooklyn roads, I've decided it's time to go back to the stock springs. Damn the look.

Try backing off the strut adjustments a notch or two first.

Up to the point where you're moving the suspension enough to almost hit the bump stops, I think that the bigger part of the "sting" that you feel from road roughness is a strut velocity issue, which comes through via the bump damping. It's also something that has about zero cost to try.

Funny thing is, though the lower settings feel softer as they should, they also make the car more subject to bottoming out on big dips and the tons of craters that NY streets are famous for.
I throw them on 5, no more bottoming out issues, BUT therein lies the problem of "ZOMG, my teeth, my back, my spleeeen!!

I've tried Maxspeeds which felt "stock like" over bumps and dips. However, on rough beat up roads the car damn near fell apart beneath me.

My last 2 options will probably be H&R or Volks/ I'd love to try Eibachs, but I read that they are not the best choice for NY streets.

well ive had k-sports great handling, bone jarring ride. s-techs on illuminas great stance also a pretty rough ride. maxspeeds on illuminas best drop but still a little too rough. eibachs on illuminas best ride thus far but damn that uneven drop. now running stock springs on illuminas great ride great handdling but that gap is hidious. so looking to try the h&rs uneven drop but suppose to be best ride. am i wrong??? help before i waste the money thanks

ive gone over more than half of these posts and still cant decide what springs i want, lol one person says h-techs are great and ride like stock the next says they are horrible. it just goes on and on one says something is good and the other says they are bad, lol i dont wanna knock anyone i would just like to find a decent spring. I live in NY and want a even drop or i would not mind the back sitting a little high i just dont want it to sag. i dont mind sacrificing some ride quality as long as handle gets better...

guys I have Htechs upfront and H&R in the rear...VERY even stance but the ride sucks, Im assuming b/c of the htechs up front. I have illuminas which are set on 2 all around for a softer ride. Apparently that has not worked...

So Im swapping the h&rs in the front again to get a better quality ride back. Is is ok to still keep the illuminas on 2 even I put the H&Rs up front? Im past the stage where I want a killer look...I live in NY and I just want comfort back...

thank you for your input silver max i now am %100 sure i am going to go with H&R, being a daily driver and having alot of obstacles out there this seems the most practical,
IMO its more important to have better ride/experience alot more than better appearance.

go for more damping before you go with lowering/sport springs. that is all i have to say.

actually it was more for playboi. the common rule is that harsher/lower springs are not well-matched to the stock struts and tend to shorten the life by a LOT. you could either drop $400+ now, and worry about springs whenever you want within another 50-60k, or you can put some nice firm springs and maybe have to do struts anyway within 2-3 oil changes.

I have a question about my 02 maxima I just bought half a month ago. I have another 02 that I'm trying to sell.. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=525824 Anyway, my question is that the front end is sitting a lot more even with the back end on the "new" car than the old one. On the old one, its obvious in the pics that the front end has the famous "4x4" look to it. On the one thats for sale its sitting around 28" to 28 1/8" in the front from ground to top of fender. On the car I just bought, its around 27 1/2 in the front. The rear on both cars is about 27 1/2. Can stock springs vary this much in height or is it possible that the previous owner had aftermarket springs put up front? Oh and another thing, the car I just got is manual so if anything it should be sitting higher not lower than the automatic that I'm comparing to.

No one will know if it has aftermarket springs other than yourself. Jack it up and check.
