Programmin the built-in garage door buttons?

I don't have an owner's manual with my '03 Max. There are three buttons overhead which I assume can be used to control garage doors. I attempted to program them using the same method used to program a and-held remote: Push the "learn" button on the garage door opener, then push the button on the remote. It doesn't work. Is there a different way to program these buttons? BTW, my garage doors are Genies.

Thanks.

You're welcome. It's a great feature. I used to have the factory opener clipped onto my visor in my 92 Max. It's so much better with the Homelink.
