Stolen Headlight (1) -- Non-HID?!?
I was riding on my company shuttle bus (to Hoboken RR sta.) on Sinatra drive (Hoboken, NJ) when I saw a Y2k/2k1 Maxima with the passenger side headlight missing. It looked like the Max had been there a while since it was somewhat covered in snow.
Seeing that, I was like WTH?!? Either this HID thief wanted some practice on Halogens or he's one DUMB bastard.

Maybe he just needed one headlight for his y2k/2k1 max? And its not about HID theft anymore.. maxima is slowly becoming one of the highest stolen car.. forget HIDS, now a days they will take your whole car. Be very careful.

i think the thief made a mistake (well another mistake...stealing is a mistake in itself)
he probably thought they were HIDs since the max was covered in snow and was harder to see the headlights? ...well after he took one out and found out it was halogens, he probably ran away

i think this scenario is more likely

I've seen this before. 2000 and 2001 headlights getting ripped off. I suppose under the influence of crack its hard to tell the 5 and 5.5 gens apart.
Plus I hear that some of the thefts are being perpetrated by teens who may not be very car savy...
