Mine does the exact same thing. In my other car, I've used Lysol on the intake with the fan at max, followed by some Febreze. It worked for a month or so.

It's caused by mildew in the ductwork. Mine stank since day one.

I've noticed the smell change from vomit to cat urine and more... very nice!

Thats a normal thing in cars man when U use a lot of AC.. Notice next time it stinks more on hot rainy days. there are 2 solutions to this problem, drive with the windows down or don't be cheap and use the AC. And yes my car stinks too, its nothing we are doing its just that way, and no its not a Maxima issue, its pritty much any car. U can try the method given on putting Lysol in the breather and see if that helps.. Mine doesn't smell any more.. just stopped by itself I guess. every now and then it'll smell but not often. U can try to leave your car in the sun with the windows down and that'll get the moisture out of the car too. IF U CAN. Good Luck man

Funny... my car doesn't stink when I use mine (65 degrees). But in Jane's car, it reaks after the AC is turned off.

Also....

Make sure that before you shut the car off everytime that you click off the "recirculate" button so that the vents open up and allow fresh air to circulate through the car when it's off. If you don't you'll get moisture trapped in there and it'll mildew and cause the smell you speak of.

If you can stand to do it (and if you're not already), open up the fresh air with the A/C on and just ride around with the stink a while and let the air move through it. If it's still around after a while, you might have to get some more serious cleaning of the A/C system done and start over.

thot of it for a bit..

maybe you can try to leave your heater on while you're away from the car during a real hot sunny day, roll the windows and see if it'll dry all the moisture and stuff out.. it's worth a shot.. my car dont' stank.. and don't turn on your AC right after you wash your car.. i usually put it on recirculate, and shut off the car before the wash.
