New and cleaner intake causing problems?

Hey guys,
over the week end I installed a berk intake. Nice product, pretty easy installation.

While I had the intake off, I cleaned out the throttle body with a can of TB cleaner and a tooth brush. My dealer actually recommended this.

Now, when I am driving and let off the throttle, the car doesn't decelerate immediately like it used to.
If I rev the engine in neutral, the rpm's "hang" for a half second before they start to drop, and then the settle out at 1200 for about 5-6 seconds and then drop to 800 after that.

I have a 2k 5spd. Does this sound off? Or is could this be related to having a less restrictive intake?

sounds like an air leak or a problem with your throttle cable. check the connections on the intake to make sure the clamps are tight. also look at the throttle cable and make sure the bolts around it are tightened down. if you are idling at 800 and are manual then you may need to have nissan lower your idle. auto idle that high but maunals are supposed to idle around 625 i believe.

Thanks. I didn't hear any leaks. I hate to go to the dealer, but maybe I'll have to.
I bet they'll love my intake

You should open it up again and check to see especially from the back of the throttle plate, and check if there are any "sticky" gums accumulated (back of the throttle plate) from cleaning the throttle body. Also, try reset your ECU too.

I rode in ssheltz' car yesterday. There would have to be a human finger stuck in the throttle body for it to do this. Sticky IACV sounds possible, but it would not all of a sudden be doing this after the intake install. I personally looked at the birds nest of vac hoses and such. No leaks. Even though the ECU "re-learns", resetting it would not hurt. BTW from what I could tell there was no hesitation or lag w/acceleration.

I stopped by the dealer today. The same guy who suggested I clean out the TB also said that it would be a good idea now that it's clean to re-set all the idle settings with their computer. Hmmmm. Was this a set up??

ive cleaned my throttle body many times with the car on and off with no problem of it changing my idle at all. mine has idle very low but after running for about 10 secs and light throttle, all went back to normal. have you checked the throttle cable to make sure its functioning properly?

I didn't know you cleaned your TB Steve. That would explain the time lapse with the idle settling down. The IACV sounds like it's over-active or over whelmed with having to settle the idle down.

Guess I forgot to tell you that part. I thought cleaning it would HELP it, not hurt it.
Sounds like an ECU re-set and maybe some idle adjusting is in need here.
