Pro-M has been making MAF for other cars for quite some time, does a great job with reasonable price and provides you the flow data for the meter. The meters measure the airflow (usually by the amount of heat drop on sensor in meter) then send a voltage signal to the computer telling it how much air is passing so the program knows how much fuel to add.
If you are talking to them they also make a MAF signal adjuster which allows YOU to fine tune the MAF signal, ask them to make this for a Maxima it gives you better control of tuning performance and you can have any shop bore the stock meter larger for like $30.
