2k maxima Lighting upgrade

Hello fellow maxima owners.

I wanted to to upgrade the OEM stock head lights to HID or something smilar. I have checked on ebay and there is tons of lights some more expensive than others, but I don't know whats (quality) cheap or good.

Maybe a few of you can give an honest opnion of a good lights to install on my maxima. Perhaps a list of the top three.

thanks, greatly appreciate it.

How much are you willing to spend is the big question. If you are willing to go all out then buy the stock HID then equip them with DDE. If you are on budget and just looking for bulbs then PIAA is recommended by some org members. I have used some of the cheap crap on ebay ($6.95 and around that price) and they blew out in less than a year... and my fogs burned out at least once a month. I have been using OPTIX from Best Buy and so far they seem to have a really good beam pattern. The only thing I don't like about them is that they reflect blue during the day. Good Luck.

I have a set of SPW Industries HID lights for the 2k max that I want to sell. The come with 7800k bulbs and Hella Ballasts and high beam reflector. I used them for a little under 1 year and I just did a 2k2 light swap. If you are interested pm me.

If you want to go with HID you have three options
1. OEM 2k2 Headlights - (needs wiring modification)
2. H4 HID Kit HI/Low Beams
3. H4 HID Kit lows or a DIY Kit

I did the do it yourself kit where I bought everything individually and to the best of my knowledge with good quality parts.

Here are the main things that you will need.
1. 2 Hella/Philips Ballasts - ($295 or less with 2 philps bulbs)
2. 2 Philips d2s bulbs - 4300K less than $80
3. 2 H4 Adapter Shields - $50 (Because d2s bulbs do not fit in our housing and to correct beam pattern)
4. 1 Wire Harness - (less than $90)

Sites with a lot of good info

As for you fog lights most members usually go with either PIAA Xtreme White or Super Plasmas. I know there are a couple more different brands but I forgot their names.

Hope this helps - good luck

Dont waste your money on those cheap bulbs. What happens is they burn out in a few months, and you have to hassle with replacing them. Even if one goes out, same problem. They only come in pairs. This happened to me two times on my fog bulbs before I got a clue and put in some polargs. Try on Ebay for better lighting prices. I recommend polarg or PIAA. You pay, but you can install and forget. And they look as good as they work

Go with the HIDS. I had the same problem with the PIAA's. They last a year if I'm lucky and no I didn't touch the bulb during installation. The cheap filament always broke in the middle. PIAA asked me if I was offroading and they said that the shock might cause the filament to break. I said no ma'am I drive a stock four door family car.

What is the specific model number & type of PIAA that fits the 2k maxima?
I don't have the sufficient funds for 2k2 maxima HIDs yet so I think I'll have to opt for PIAA.
Thanks everyone for your opinion. If someone else is using some other kind of bulb, please list. I would greatly appreciate it.

Courtesynissan.com has them for about $1200 complete. I got mine a year and a half ago from them on sale for $998, so I jumped on them. Whatever you do, don't buy the stolen ones off of Ebay.

if you don't want HIDs...consider Sylvannia SilverStars as an alternative to PIAAs. they are cheap and a lot whiter than the stock 2k bulbs. several guys on here run them.

they are about $20 each - cheaper than the PIAAs (which are about $70 each i think). not quite as bright...but close. i've got pics of my SilverStars on my homepage.

Low beams = H4

Fog light = H3

I've used PIAA Xtreme Whites and Super White Platinum.
