HEEEEELP! JWT Pop install
Okay, I'll be the first to admit it. I was blessed with a lot of things, but mechanical ability is not one of them.
So snicker, laugh, e-mail your buddies about the guy who can't put on a simple Popcharger, then HELP ME!
It's just that one friggin' bolt- the lower left-hand one if you're looking from the front of the car. It's one of the four that holds the airbox to the MAF, where the MAF is plugged in.
I can't get the damn thing loose. I've gotten all the rest. What I'm looking for is advice on what tool to use to get down in there- it's an awful tight squeeze, and that's the problem. The other thing I can do is unhook it further back where there's a hose clamp. Only thing there is, I'm afraid I won't be able to get that back on or that I'll screw up my MAF.
I bought a snakedriver, thinking I'd be able to get in there with that. But that damn thing doesn't have enough torque to loosen ANY of my bolts- it just gets all twisted up. It sucks.
If anyone could let me know how you did it, I'd really appreciate it. Or, if you live in the Dallas area and want to SHOW me (hint hint), that'd be even better.
Thanks in advance.
Easiest way is to remove that whole tube from the maf.. there is one of those screw things that clamps down hoses I believe and you can remove it and then pull the whole airbox and tube out and then you have easy access to the last bolt... or you can be like me and a million others and break the damed thing when trying to get it out.
I thought I was the only moron who broke that bottom hole-tab thing off. Good thing my MAF blew and the warranty gods gave me a new one. While replacing the stock airbox for an OSCAI, I discovered the screw clamp.
By then, the new MAF was in and I was determined not to break anything. Glad to hear I'm not alone.
