A good day for my maxima and a bad one for my G35

Well today i finally realized that my new g35 is burning oil. When i first got it, it was burning a little oil but thats normal for a new engine. Today i came to the realization and after 14,000 miles that its buring oil. I saw it comming from the exhaust... Its going into the shop monday and ill keep you posted

Is this a common problem? what could be the cause?

Ok the good news!!! I blew my bose sub in my 01 maxima!! I will be replacing that piece of **** very shortly!

Loud music with bass all the way up for 4 years and over wattage is an easy way to blow a speaker. That will cause the sub to over stress and eventually blow.

this is not a common problem, IMO. could be a bad gasket or a seal. How bad was the oil burn? did you see smoke coming out your muffler or just from bottom of the car?

Burning oil like that sounds like bad piston rings. Badly assembled engine, or bad break in.

I was really easy on the car during break in, so i dont think that is the cause. The dealer said the car will burn a little oil until the engine breaks in. After 14000 miles, I am now seeing white smoke from the exhaust.

I got an appointment Wendsday morning. It sounds like it will be in the shop for a while

Are you keeping track of how much oil you're burning? That's the first thing they'll ask. Nissan considers burning .5 QT every 3000 miles to be normal. GM considers 1 QT to be normal.

White smoke is steam, (coolant), blue smoke is oil burning, neither one is normal and should be repaired.

White smoke could mean number of things but hopefully it's not a blown head gasket. Lot of $$$ for that job but you should be covered under warranty.

I say drain your oil to see if you see any coolant or check the coolant to see if you have any oil drops.
