Finally ordered Cattman Y-Pipe. Question for those in the know.
Finally ordered Cattman Y-Pipe. Question for those in the know.
Do instructions come with the ypipe? No fitment issues I understand, but there was an issue with having to shorten one of the bolts on the front bank of the exhaust manifold right? Something about not being able to tighten it down because of clearance issues w/longish bolt and one of the bends on the ypipe. Can anybody point me to a previous post or educate me as to any potential hassles re: install?? Thanks.

should have all the pictures you need. the fitment issue was with the rear bank, back bolt. like you said, the pipe turns too quickly and therefore when the stud screws in, it rubs up against it. dremeling it down about 1/8 to 1/4" should give you enough clearance issues. SUPPOSEDLY, brian catts had this situation taken care of, but who knows which batch got the fix. personally, i'ts not a major issue. it's not evne like you need to take **** apart. if you're installing it yourself, then using a dremel is no tougher. fitment should be perfect and you should be quite satisfied. good luck. keep us up to date with your thoughts on it.

Thanks Steve!Anyway, is this a do it yourself job???? I can probably handle the dremeling the bolt down. I just dont want this to end up taking 4 hrs, or worse unable to finish it at all. I live in the Midwest, unknown how corroded/rusted the original flanges/gaskets are, and how tough it will be to take it apart/put back together....This is a two man job I assume, ramps necessary, etc. Suggestions people!
I called and drove around, have been quoted as high as $105, and as little as $65. Labor hour for mech in Chicago is around $65 an hour, for reference.
Anybody in Chicago nw side willing to help a fellow Maxima guy out, I will throw in a 6pack and some chicken wings,

Thanks Steve!Cattman f'd up again and shipped to him instead of direct to us so as a token of his appreciation he decided to send them to us next day and when he asked me who ordered, off the top of my head I remembered myself, Igor and your Fernando...
oh and please...add to my complaint thread about Cattman's ignorance in this whole matter here:

I can't hold SWA accountable for a gaffe on Cattman's part. As far as I'm concerned, all is forgiven with SWA. I didn't know they had jacked around so many of us though...It makes me happy to know we are all looking out for each others best interests.

I appreciate it bro, you the man! Happy modding!
Thanks for all your help guys. One last thing, I finally received the install kit from Brian Catts, and wanted to make sure it was all their, and also a question.
One gasket - for seal between rear of ypipe and front of cat
Two gaskets - for seal between the rear bank/rear lip and front bank/front lip
1 Copper washer (goes with the bolt, see below)
1 Hexa-Head heavy duty bolt. The threads are compatible to the 02 port threads.
What function does the bolt serve???
Thanks again guys.

Heath, that's actually the reason Im asking, lol.
Im not doing it myself, time is a commodity I don't have. I just don't wanna go into the Merlin Muffler and have them tell me, yeah, you are missing some hardware or something.

So I guess you didn't have to call Brian or SWA to give em a piece of your mind, huh? You sounded pretty agitated on the phone, lol.
You already got a quote from Meineke, $60 or thereabouts?
