help with some questions about mods

ive been looking and saving to do some mods to the max, and just hope someone out there will help a little and tell me if i have good choices or ridiculous ones.

1. tires- i am keeping the stock rims for now, and need new tires. heard great things about the faulken 512's. think im going to go get a set or put a set on order.
2. exhaust- im wanting an exhaust for a little more power, but nothing anyhere close to rice. im thinking the cattman cay-back exhaust is the way to go.
3.intake- the injen CAI, good choice or not?
4. drop- have no idea where to go on this, just needing some help and advice.
hope fellow org members can give me a little push in the direction i need to go. feel free to leave any comments or post any link to somewhere i can go to read about it.

I think your choices are pretty good.

I have Maxspeeds and stock struts. It's an inexpensive way to go, but only if your stock struts are in good shape. I want to go with Teins next, but that will require new struts cause of the increased drop.

for drop i have tein with gr-2's. a little more expensive but the drop looks great and its rides almost like a stock max.

for intake i would go with the cattman cai.

for the exhaust do teh y-pipe again from cattman. mainly that it gives up the most power from your motor, and when you rev her she sounds a little meaner.

I've put together a lot of notes on springs/struts for my own purchase, so I thought I'd pass this along. For the drop, there's a wide variety of options on springs:

BRAND PRICE_SHIPPED DROP
Eibach: $205 1.3F 1.0R
Progress: $165 1.7F 1.5R
H&R: $210 1.4F 1.3R
Sprint: 1.8F 1.8R
Maxspeed: $100 1.4F 1.3R
Tein H-Tech: 1.6F 1.0R
Tein S-Tech: $130 2.2F 1.6R
JIC FLT: $1100 Fully adjustable <-full coilover (strut and spring together)

Spring Rates (what little I've collected):
TEIN S-tech: 201/265
PROGRESS: 165 / 200
EIBACH: 500 / 450

-H&R offer best ride
-H&R and Eibach offer best performance
-Eibachs often considered rougher
-Progress offers most even drop
-Maxspeeds are often considered cheap alternative to H&R
-JIC's allow you to drop very low without compromising suspension travel.
-Progress is the lowest you can go with factory struts - but any drop will wear out your factory struts quickly and is generally not recommended. Upgrading to an aftermarket strut when springs are upgraded also improves the ride/handling.
*All the above are subjective to some degree, but I've found the above to be the general concensus.

For spring popularity, see http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=281194

For struts:
Tokico HP (Blues): 299
Tokico Illuminas: 438
KYB-GR2: 304
KYB-AGX: 400
Koni : 550
JIC FLT: $1100 <-full coilover (strut and spring together)

Koni, AGX, and Illuminas are adjustable for damping and rebound. AGX have been accused of being rougher in cold weather. Illuminas require a flathead screwdriver to adjust. AGX have a ****. Blues and GR-2 are OEM replacements.

For strut popularity, see http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=281189

Given all this, what did I choose? Progress & Illumina for the even drop, adjustability, and good ride reviews from owners. I have yet to install, so impressions soon.

According to people, they say Eibach drop more than 1.3F 1.0R. their drop are more like tein type s,
but anyway their srings are very rought and stiff.

I've heard that too, but haven't seen anyone take measurements before and after to prove it.

ASU had measurements of eibachs b4 he cut em..dunno if he deleted em.....

eibachs go lower than advertised and so do maxspeeds...my maxspeeds dropped like 1.6" in front and 1.3 in back

the H&R drop of 1.4 is accurate because my boy's H&R's are a tad higher than my maxspeeds
