Question about top bolt of strut

There are 1 bolt on top of strut surrounded by 3 other bolts. If I were to replace that single top bolt, could I just unscrew it and screw a new one in? I just found out that my bolt is pretty rounded off and wanted to put a new one in.

That's the bolt holding all the compression of the spring... if you wanted to replace it, you'd have to take the suspension out, get a spring compressor on it, and then take it off...

Has anyone been playing with your suspension, I wonder why that is rounded off?

Shouldn't be a concern though, I'd leave it unless you need to replace it.

Even if it is rounded off sears makes a socket designed for rounded off bolts

Either that, or it's dremel time.

Think about the design. If the assembly is in the car with the other three bolts around it still tight, you can change the single bolt in the middle without having to remove everything anything else. But, I agree, it won't hurt anything for that bolt to be rounded off, unless you're as **** as I am and you can't stand the way it looks.

wrong, while the car is on its shoes,on the floor and not jacked up, the suspension is compressed. there is no need to take apart the suspension. you can take all the bolts off, it wont come apart, you have the car sitting on the suspension.

Go Ahead and try to get the stripped repair bits from sears and see if u can take those puppies out...

So you are saying I can just remove the rounded off bolt and put a new one in?
