What is a 2002 SE Worth?

What is a base auto SE going for with 26-30k miles? I was told they are bringing around $15k at auction!!!

More like upper 13k to mid 15k. Paid 15K retail for 50K SE 6speed last month. The 6 speeds will bring closer to 15K while the auto's are in the 13-14 range. Sucks that a 30K car can go down but at least its not a Caddy or LIncoln where you go from 50K to 15K in 3 years.

It seems like everyone her is paying less than listed in the sites above. The cheapest I've seen here is $16900.

Your right around here they are commanding much more than that, the only ones that were cheap were thsoe High mileage Hertz previous rentals. All of the personal ones and Dealer ones were going for much more.

That makes me suspicious of the purchases around here too: are members buying Hertz/rental cars?

There's a 2k2 Maxima SE with 30k miles I've had eyes on for ~$17000, but that's also the prices most 2k/2k1 Maximas go for.2K-2K3 Maximas 100miles from Cleveland, OH

Maxima prices are relatively high where I live, but Maximas are also relatively rare. But regional price adjustment doesn't raise/lower the price that dramatically.

They go for 12-16k at auctions, more if it's loaded with low miles, rare colors and options..

And in NJ, it makes sense for them to be cheaper because the tri-state wholesale dealer auctions have tons of maximas there coming off leases and such and no one wants them because of the HID theft in the region.

It seems that most of the Max's I am finding are fleet or from Rental Companys. I know Rental companys take care of their cars it makes me wonder how the renters take care of it. Would any of you buy one of these?

I paid just a hair over 15k with tax for my 02 SE. I bought it at Auction back in July with only 23k on it. Over all I'm very happy with it...I'd never pay more than 16k for a 02-03 they lose value so quick..hell I bet my 02 isn't even worth what I paid for it and I've only put 5k on her in 8 months.

Auto base se is cheap b/c they are usually used as a rental and plentiful. 6 speeds are a little pricier and rarer. so are loaded se maximas. Unless you are going to an auction-you need to look at retail prices. 02 Max should run between 15-18 depending on miles, condition, options.

By the way Sam do you own a zx12?

How could you tell I own a 12....LOL... It is a 2000 model. Do you ride? I usually use the same screen name that I use on the bike websites.

From what I can tell a base SE is going for about $15 at auction but I am curious to see what kind of deals you guys are getting. I am in the market for another one and obviously want to get the best deal I can get. Average trade for a base SE is $13800 according to NADA. It seems weird that the auctions are bringing more than trade value unless that is standard protocol.

I'm willing to believe that popular ports and well-populated coastal areas command lower prices on the car. Meanwhile, given my proximity to Detroit, it seems like domestic cars sell much lower (even though that's generally the case regardless of where you go).
There's no getting around supply/demand or the cost of transporting a good.

16K for an 03 unless its high mileage or ex rental(they are going for 17-18k stil with 27k miles) want happen maybe an 02 they are 2 different years. Didnt your car come with a few issues before you purchased it or something if I recall. Its not only Maxima suffering from the lowered resale/trade in value its lots of cars, the market is still saturated. My buddy went to trade in his 03 G35 with 11,000 miles for the new TL and they only offered him 21,500 and he paid 31,000 for it a year ago.
