Did my BOSE SUB BLOW OUT?

Well, i noticed this about 4 days ago. There was terrible rattling coming from the stock BOSE SUBWOOFER in the rear deck. I thought the BASS was all the way up. It wasn't. So i removed the BOSE plastic cover to see what the deal was. I tried applying pressure to the area to try to stop the rattling but nothing helped.
So i took the trunk route... it seems like the cardboard of the speaker is hitting the metal rim backing of the speaker. Anyway... i havent yet unscrewed it to find the exact problem.
ANyway even with the BASS all the way down and listening to CLASSICAL music, the rattling is ridiculous.

ANyway... anyone have clue whats going? do i need a subwoof speaker? Could be a fuse or wiring? THe speaker works, but abnormally.
THanks for any help.

Roger
