Stock suspension in 2000 SE too rough?

Hi All,

I have a question about stock suspenion in a 2000 SE. I dont know why, but it seems really rough to me than it was before. The ride is harsh, the roads arent that good too, I always go slow on bad roads and lower my pressure in the tires to compensate for some comfortness, although the tread wears out faster.

So my question is, can oem springs/struts wear out in anyway that will make them rougher than before? If yes, can it be determined in any way that there are worn out? Perhaps this will be my excuse to go for an aftermarket setup...

Thanks

45k miles on a car (tires are only a couple of month old)

I have about the same mileage on mine and the car does seem to ride rougher than it did 10,000 miles ago, but then again, there are alot more rough roads and potholes in the winter, so maybe I am just riding on sh1ttier roads....

I personally are holding off on the struts til winter's over at least and until I can get some H&R springs at the same time as the Illuminas....

But again, I think my struts are fine, just that the roads are extra bad here right now due to really icy winter...doubt that is the case for TZap, since he (and you) are in the "nice-weather zone"

I have 52k on my 2k, no change in the ride when I put the stock Toyos back on, otherwise, some of the tires I have tried awere really harsh, I changed the rear (only) struts to GR2 to balance the damping (worked well). Springs don't generally wear out although some will sag with age, 50k is young for that. Worn struts might seem rougher because of bouncyness, they certainly don't get firmer with age.

Yeah, my 2K SE has 55k miles, it feels harsher than before (both bouncier, and potholes/etc feel harsher), and I plan on replacing the struts with Illuminas Real Soon now.
