MY F@#$ing transmission blew today *******IT...I have no reverse or 1st gear...#@$!ing nissan transmission

just shows how much they blow because i have the vb mod too

i called pat at level 10 and he says it sounds like my tc went out the window...which also means it failed the transmission in general....hmmmmm I believe it'll be time for a PTS stage 3 transmission soon=D

 

Sorry to hear. Did you get the TCM fixed (version A or version B)?

There's a bright side to this... now you can get a high stall torque converter and a Level 10 tranny rebuild.

 

yah i know...but a tranny blowing out at 19k...thats unheard of...Nissan is going to hear from me like they've never heard from anyone before(original huh?)

anyway...i had the TCM done but i dont know if it was version A or B what the manager told me was that he put the 2001 TCU into my car which was the newest unit at the time

Level 10 tranny build....
Pat guaranteed performance equal to or slightly better than 5 speeds...aint that something? (Billet TC included)

 

If you took punkdork's TSB there, then it's version B, otherwise it's probably version A (the one I have).

Did Pat give you a quote on how much the rebuild was going to be? I'd like to know. Thanks in advance.

 

I am taking my car in for 7500 mile service tomorrow....I will try to get them to do the solenoid swap....wish me luck!

 

Curious, do u have Don's VB or the 50 dollar one? I know Dave with the SC max has over 30k on his, and his transmission hasn't bite the dust after many races.....and it has Don's VB.

Doesn't messing with the tranny void the warranty on it? If Nissan finds that, you won't get a dime.

 

thats why im considering more than not..doing the PTS at level 10

plus I'll hit 14's with it...with just intake and y-pipe
if level 10's claims are true

p.s. i guess everything worked out for the best...ill get the PTS done while im getting the guys at TnS to repaint the ninja kit with a few layers(initial job is horrible)

Whoa! Sorry to hear that. At least now you can get a new transmission and start over with new selenoids and maybe a newer TCM. Since you got the VB upgrade, will you think the transmission will be covered under warrenty? I would say that unless Nissan can find a way to prove that the VB upgrade messed the transmission, you have a shot of getting a free bee

 

sorry to ask a stupid question, but i need to know some how.
what does these terms mean? TCM, TSB,VB ,and PTS?

I have a problem w/ my tranny too.When i shift from 1st to 2nd it lages.I know its not my clutch cause it's always been like this.

does anyone have this problem too?
does anyone know what the problem could be?
or should i just take it to the dealer?

 

Definitely no 5th gens have done it yet. I believe there are different levels you can do (hp-wise). If you're planning on getting and SC/turbo/nitrous in the future, get a higher level rebuild. 400 whp should be a nice level because stock internals are probably good for about 300 whp.

BTW
When the 2k1 tcm was put on
man it ran so smooth.
after about a month break in period.
after a while it was back to the same slippage.

 

PTS... basically Level 10 "bullet proof's" your tranny, meaning they guarantee it won't blow up to a certain hp.

VB... increases the line pressure so you shift harder and faster.

TCM... supposedly, it fixes the slippage caused by our trannies.

TSB... information on what needs to be fixed (given out by Nissan).

 

just to add:

Shift solenoid : The thing that is messed up in the the 2k trannies and will also cause slippage.

 

so basically my tranny failed because I had a tranny that was slipping but the vb was hiding any signs of it

 

pmp...i'd say you should trade someone don's vb mod for their normal chip and then bring it into nissan...you may think its not worth it now, but it will be defenitely in the long run...i'll trade you if you want

 

yah right im not stupid...its a level 10 vb...and by trading away my vb I lose out on more than getting everything done at level 10...nissan wont know the difference...how many times do they open up the tranny when they're doing an oil change?

Trade away my VB like you said, which i wouldnt even do...my dealership is very understanding and probably would over look the fact that i did it anyway
and get a new transmission

Pay some money and shave a second off of my quarter mile while making my internals stronger for the S/C ill be putting on this summer

alright...how much did you end up paying for the vb anyways? trust me...nissan isn't going to look over it...i had an intake problem that can be fixed by resetting the battery (found that out about 8 months after i brought it into nissan) and they charged me $1200 because they say the intake voided the warranty...i'd say take out the vb until you get the new tranny then stick it back on

 

dude....I took my car in with an intake, illegaly tinted windows, the stillen kit and an eibach drop and they dont even care...I went by yesterday and they know what i have done to my car. The manager's exact words...oh yah you're the guy we did the TCM for right? just bring it in if thats the case

Im even tempted to forgo the level ten tranny rebuild and get the billet TC and ask the guys at Nissan to do it for me for free

i dunno thats how good of an experience ive had with my dealers service department

during the TCM replacement the manager was the one who tested my car...he drove it but he couldnt reproduce..nevertheless he said he would replace it anyway

I wonder how much the labor would be if we can buy just the parts...

chances are labor costs close to what the parts cost....dropping a tranny is no small job....

pmp...what type of work did you have done w/ those things...dealer isn't going to refuse a car w/ illegal tint because that doesn't affect warranties...if your car all of a sudden flys up in the air or something goes wrong with your suspension they will not cover it because of your springs...they will still do oil changes and they will do any tcm's because they know about these problems...all dealerships are the same...they are in it to make money...if you have nitrous on your car, the dealer will service it, but if your engine blows, they will not have it under warranty because the nitrous was to blame

on the other hand, just in case you have some sort of special dealer, just have them try to service your car now and if they don't mention anything, great...but if they do, you will have to tow your car or however you can get it over to another dealership...and be sure to take the vb off if the first dealership doesn't take it...but its worth a try...usually its good to take off all of your mods before any sort of dealer service (assuming they are easy to take off like intake...i'm not suggesting taking off your springs or something that is that costly, but if a dealer knows you had an intake and then you bring the car in without one suddenly, they might think that you had a problem and took it off (if they remember you) and if you bring it to them and they see the intake or the vb mod you run a high risk of them saying its not under warranty

the local speedshop that i just found out about (they are partners w/ brian catts) told me all about how to get everything fixed even with mods....the main guy there had an 800hp twin turbo eclipse and he lent it to a friend once and the friend blew the engine...so he brought it back to mitsubishi and guess what they said...FU&K OFF, YOU PAY!!!...so basically, this guy convinced them that the turbos weren't the problem and they replaced it for free...in order for a dealership to void a warranty, they must have 100% proof that the item you had in the car was to blame for the problem...if you bring this issue upto them, they will most likely say that they will do it for free (as long as you are firm and make sure they think that you know tons more about this than they do)...don't budge from your position that THIS IS getting fixed for free...they will most likely not want to take the time and money to run all of the tests to see if that item was the actual problem (sicne nissan will re-imburse them for the warranty work)

So to sum it up for everyone... $3K will get the Level 10 tranny internals, billet torque converter, and labor.
