Cleaning the MAF

So, I've read a few times about people cleaning their MAF with throttle body cleaner, how well does this work? How do you go about doing it?

I've done it once, although it was somewhat incomplete since I didn't take the MAF out of the tube, only sprayed through the wire grille. I saw a set of security Torx bit sockets at Sears the other day, I might buy that set so I can undo the security torx-head bits and remove the MAF assembly for a much closer/more thorough cleaning.

I noticed a little better overall response. I did do this at the same time as a Throttle Body cleaning, so I can't tell how much of this was due to the MAF cleaning.

As a side note, installing a hyperground kit in my car did result in a mild change in MAF reading according to my OBD-II scantool software. So if you're interested in optimizing things on the MAF sensor, maybe a hyperground kit combined with a MAF cleaning will do you well
