will all those mods, your probably putting out more HPs than your friend. the 3.5 is great... the 5thgen maxima 3.5 combined with the horrible power loss sucks... I wouldnt be too happy if i were you... if you want to test your car try racing a TL type S.

lol. i agree. i can't believe there are any modded 3.0 mannys getting
beat by stock 3.5 autos. just doesn't make sense.

They are both Maximas and if speed is all that our cars are supposed to be about then we all have the wrong car, if we had Vettes then we could really talk trash about to anyone here but this flaming and hating on 3.0 doesn't make any sense to me.
I love both of my cars and I get compliments on both wherever I go, no one other than performance gurus here really care about how fast our cars are, they just offer respect because the cars look great and have a nice rep.

Too bad a 3.5L auto needs mods too keep up to a 5spd on the highway let alone a basic modded 5spd. y/intake. Oh wow $400 in mods. WoooWeee "every bolt on" They are the only two that really do much on a 3.0. UDP is useless and b-pipe muff might give a hp or two.So $400 in mods in an old 3.0 2k 5spd will beat a stock 2k2 auto on the highway easily let alone a modded 2k2 auto. Your car would be lucky to be even with one in top end. Sorry your slicks can't help you there.
hey, 5th gen 3.0 maximas wanna be like us... what can i say? They wanna have our speed and our lights, and HIDS. and why dont you compare manual to manual, and auto to auto?

3.0 and 3.5 aside...
I don't understand why some people talk so much about speed and racing yet they own an automatic? Nothing against an automatic, but if performance is what one is after than why did they not get the manual??? If performance is the name of the game you don't drive a 4-sp auto.
Now on the 3.0 vs the 3.5... not knocking the 3.0, but I don't think a couple basic mods like intake etc. will make a world of difference. The HP number of the two engines are fairly close at stock, it's in the torque where the real advantage lies.
The 3.5 has the 3.0's number... and there are plenty of cars/engines that have the 3.5's number. Do I like my 6sp 02' Max? Certainly... Is it the greatest thing since sliced bread? Well... probably not. There are plenty of cars out there that can still smoke me.
In any case, Nissan does and has for some time built one of the best V6 engines available. And there is nothing wrong with having a little pride in that... whether the 3.0 or the 3.5

I'm not going to speak here... but I seen more engine failures in the 3.5Ls and trannie problems than the 3.0L. Yes I'm affiliated with Nissan so I know. I don't hate on the 3.5L, I knew it was going to be at the dealers within 3 months of my purchase... but why ? Did U know that the heads in the K motor, the intake manifold are way supperior to the 3.5L motor ? Did U know that the pistons are made in Mexico ? and engine is assembled in the US - 04s only thou. I don't hate, I have the $$$ to buy a 3.5L but I'm organizing a dyno meet where I will show ya how a 3.0L makes more WHP than the 3.5Ls. Alllll in the tuning.... fuel AND ignition

I love my Maxima as a daily driver, it's a good SPORTY SEDAN. It isn't, and could never be considered a Sports Car, Drag Car, or even a Performance Car. But even on the forums for Supras, RX7s, Vettes, Mustangs, Etc Etc, people relying on their car for ego support is just plain ghey! It's a damn car!!!

. Yup a 3.0 5 spd is untouchable from 100-140
, I mean running from 100-140 is all that matters right? I mean everyone does 100mph roll races daily
. No matter what speed a 3.0 5spd is not going to waste me, heck a 02-03 6spd can barely pull on me and thats with equal mods as I have. I recall also one of the fastest 3.0 5spd's running a stock 6 speed and barely nudging it out from a highway roll. Whenever you can show me proof of this arguement I will believe it but I don't buy any of your nonsense. I'll let my street tire runs speak for themselfs. Heck Im already 6 tenths quicker and 3mph faster than the fastest/quickest modded 5th gen 5spd on this board and yes Im talking about street tire runs, don't need slicks.
Do U ever road race ? Maxima makes for a really good road race vehicle with the right tires, suspension and brake pads. U will be supprised on how many of the cars U just mentioned I pass on the track. Hell my friend lapped a 600WHP Supra featured in a Turbo Magazine in a close to stock 95 G20 5spd. If ya can't drive.... don't blame the car. How many Supras or RX7s U see hauling kids, furniture, a JETSKI, or even groccery shopping ??? I don't see that many. I know its not a rocket, but for 20K dollars brand new what I paid for mine in June of 01 there wasn't a better deal out there- step down from a $4 BiTurbo- which ended up being a step up if ya know Audis, I love my Max.
ever race a RSX-S on the highway ? U be pretty supprised that with little TQ it can still keep up the pace with a 4th Gen 5spd Max.... cause TQ is not that big of a factor as high end HP would be on a "highway" run. This is why those cars run slow times but the MPH is always pretty high. This is why U can smoke a IROZ Z28 on the highway really nasty, or a LT1 Impala SS... Yes they might have all the TQ in the world but since the HP starts to drop quickly past like 5500RPM U are loosing time reving that high. 3.5L is good for a auto cause its got alot of low end TQ. 3.0L w5spd moves nicely, just make sure U don't drive one with the ignition retarded 2 deg from stock timing like most of them come from the factory. I picked up 8WHP just from bumping the timing up. We are going draggin in about month and half here in IL, I am going to race some 3.5s.... I will have videos it should be pretty nasty I'm shooting for 12.8s.
What I don't understand is how so many people talk about speed and racing, yet they own a Maxima I love my Maxima as a daily driver, it's a good SPORTY SEDAN.
