weight distribution...

how much weigt is too much in the trunk on an everyday basis?

i think my new stereo set up weighs nearly 100 lbs...including the two amps, two tens and the sub box...

is that going to affect handling? I know it slows me down a bit...100 lbs is alot of weight...I'll have to get a turbo or sc to compensate!

but really, should i be concerned that the rear of my car sits lower than the front of my car?

Any significant re-distribution of weight is going to effect the handling of the car. The lower the rear of your car sits, the more it will tend to understeer.

maybe I'll reconsider the location of my amps...I obviously can't do anything about the 10's...

thanks

maybe you should just gain 100lbs? jk. yeah my system is about 85lbs and i can feel a difference in the handling. o well. i havent really floored my car since i put my new system in because the box is not bolted down yet but i cant feel much difference yet in acceleration.

yeah, I think I would only see the difference in acceleration if I went to the track, and saw my 1/4 mile times drop 2 or 3 tenths of a second.

GAIN 100LBS?!?!?

I've lost 20 so far this year...I hope to lose 30 more!

yeh a system slows your car down like anything but there is no solution to it, gotta have good bass unless if you want one of those infinity self amplified subs they only weight like 15 pounds

Given the heavier front-end of the Maxima, having extra weight in the back is a welcome addition.

I don't know about you guys, but whenever i've got heavy things occupying the trunk - handling feels a lot better. More balanced is the first thing that comes to mind.

yeah, my rear end almost looks lowered 'cause I got a ton of **** (besides my sound system) in there... a huge 3/4" thick MDF board as a floorboard included...

I've had this and my sound system in there since 1 month after I got the car... maybe that's why I'm somewhat impressed with its handling?

Except lately, as the struts have been getting worse and worse by the week... (still got my Illuminas in the basement, gotta change 'em soon!)

i wouldn't doubt my trunk weighing over 200 pounds from my system... with my drop. im 25.25 from the ground in the back and the tire well sits 1 finger below the tire... I notice my rear end to be pretty sharp on the turnies...

I noticed tonight on the way to work, that I had to turn the wheel a little more to get around a curve in the highway....

it did feel more stable...or balanced...

did I experience "understeer"?
