SES light very dim?

I have noticed at night that the SES light is very dim. Also when I brought the car to the dealer to get the TSB for the ECU done, they told me they could not update it because it kicks them out every time. Any ideas why this might be and is the dim SES light normal?

Thanks!
Clark

IIRC it can be fixed by replacing a diode. I never had the dealer replace it, though....I just live with it...

Newb here. First post to this board. You guys rock! Much great info and few goofs.

Anyway, last week I bought a used 03 SE with the same dim SES light that can only be seen at night. I was planning on checking to see if there were any codes to pull. I'm thinking that's just the way it is though. I might pull the plug on an o2 sensor and see if it lights up properly just to see.
