Alternator Upgrade?

Anyone know of a reputable on-line store that rebuilds alternators to a higher amperage output. I need my alternator to put out more amps to compensate for stereo and UDP. I know the alternator is being pushed really hard right now. I want to have a higher output ready for when it does go out.

Well there is hope for you. Back when I had my other car I use to go to sound competitions and I ran about 4000watts rms in my car. So I had to get another alternator. If you go to termpro.com and goto the forum. Setup a thread in the alternator section asking for a guy name Dominick Iraggi. His SN on there is trafficjamz. He has a company in TN that bulds alternators and he can make you one specifically for your car. Mine when I got mines was about 180 or 200 for a 180 amp alternator. Check with him he serves everyone on the Termpro.

Get an optima battery, and you shouldnt have a problem. Studman runs a 900W rms system and his a/c all the time with his UDP. The alternator puts out 110A, you shouldnt need much more than that....

Here's another good place for high-ouput starters and alternators.

I orderd my Optima Blue Top last night. I just want to make sure because I'm running a serious strereo. How do I determine how many amps are being drawn from my stereo?

P = I * V (power = Current * voltage). To find out amps, then move the equation around to (P/V=I) where Power = watts RMS and Voltage = 14.4.

Also, why did u get a blue top. All that the difference is is the extra set of marine terminals on the top. You shoulda got a yellow top...

My uncle has a starter & alternator shop and I recently got an alternator from him that had a dyno chart with it. The stock one was rated for 110 amps and the one i got was a little larger at a rated 125 amps, however the chart showed it actually put out 140+ . So you can get an OE replacement 125 instead of the 110.

Is it possible to get another one and at what price?
