New '05 Altima Interior vs. 5th gen Max Interior. Which is better?

Was just roaming around Nissan's site and saw the '05 Altima interior, finally better than the 5th gen?

Here she is:

I don't like the gap between the upper console and the lower console. I like how our max has it smoothly transition.

Altima is definitely improved. I saw one in person the other day. Still doesn't compare to the 5th gen interior IMO.

I hope they've improved the QUALITY of the materials used.

You rright after seeing it in person and feeling it it still doesnt compare to the 02/03 interior, hell even the sales manager feels that way (whom is my old car salesman). The 5th gen interior just looks classy and more upscale and everything is more flush in the 5th gen interior.

Hmm Nice

I think it looks good and it shouldn't be difficult to put in an aftermarket system cause the CD player isn't all one unit like the 2k4.

It looks okay but I'm not convinced that it looks better yet.

Yuk

Without the NAV, the interior will look even cheaper than it actually is. A friend of mine has the 04 Murano with the orange (non-nav) screen. It looks like an old 1987 computer screen.

I'm not impressed with the 2004 + Nissans....they've really started to take a wrong turn when it comes to quality materials. If it wasn't for the interior of the new Max, I would be driving one right now. Instead, I'll stick with my 2001 AE.....I love my car!

Everybody needs to stop being defensive and give credit where it's due. I hate doing it, but I have to admit that interior looks better than the 5th gen...

My guess is quality of materials is similar, and I don't like the color of the gauge LEDs, but still...

I like it...Not a fan of the steering wheel though. can't put my hands where I like to with a design like that. Navi is always a plus too.

yeah it's basically official; the altima took the place of the Maxima

instead of the calling the 04 Maxima the next gen after 5th, i would call the 05 altima the successor to the 5th gens

I sat in it last night.
The material quality seems better and the layout is a definite improvement than the previous Altima, but the rest of the car still feels cheap.
The 5th gen layout works well, but it's getting dated.

Agree the new GAYge clusters are ugly , IMO the interior styling of the new Altima & Maxima dont look that good (just looked at a new one the other day).

yeah, more than the layout of the interior, ALL nissans and japanese cars in general use way too much cheap plastic in their interiors.

I hate the steering wheel. Toyota/Lexus make the best in my opinion.

the door panels look cheap, the gauge cluster purely sucks eggs, and the center console looks like honda.

that said, my crusade of disapproval towards the new maxima/altima dash goes on... long live 5th gen.. and 98+ 4th..

IMO the polished aluminum trim has to go. That aside, the new int. look works WAY better than the prev. int.
