Moisture got me, how bad is it?
Moisture got me, how bad is it?
I have the clear corners from custommaxima.com on my 2k2 max. The front driver's side light burnt out due to moisture getting in the housing. Yes, I sealed them all with silicon (appearantly not well enough though). I don't know the technical term but the thing the bulb goes in (at the end of the wires) is burnt out. I'm going to the dealership to get it looked at tomorrow and I was wondering what I should expect in terms of cost. Can they just cut the wire and attach a new thingy for the bulb to go in? How much should that cost if that's the case?
thanks for any and all help

you can just get a new "thingy" for the bulb.
pretty sure the dealership will only have the whole thing - harness and about 10ft of wiring.
try a salvage yard
the harness for my headlight was burnt out and instead of spending $70 at the dealership for the whole thing i went to a salvage yard. that cut it off and gave me the harness and about 6 inches of the wire. $10. i just hooked it on and it worked fine.

This happened to me too, if you go to the dealer to have them check it out, they may stick you with their ~$50 "diagnostic" fee b/c they may consider it a mod to the OEM stuff. The dealer tried to do it to me, but I complained enough that they took that charge off. If you know that the socket is the problem, just order it from their parts dept, it's only about $10.

but rule of thumb for doing electrical work...disconnect power source first. this will also prevent shorting and blowing a fuse
