Painting the engine cover

Has anyone done this? I have blue wire loom and I was thinking it would look pretty good to have the cover match. I have seen pics on custmax.com with colored covers. They were early 5 gen Maxs. Im not dropping $285 on a carbon fiber cover. If you or anyone you know has done this, let me know. I might even start today if I get some feedback.
Help me out with these questions.
1) Did it look good?
2) Any problems along the way, or months after?
3) What kind of paint to use? Where do you get it?
4) Can you buy colored covers?
5) If I missed something you can think of, let me know.

Are you saying you did it or are you just giving your opinion. I want to hear from people who have done it.

I've seen one painted blue before. IMO it looked like crap. I'm guessing it's hard to make the color look even on it, and I doubt that paint sticks well to that type of surface.

i painted mine just fine. the picture below is with only three coats of paint and no clearcoat. once it warms up a bit more, i will wet sand it and add one more coat along with the clearcoat. i think it looks better than the gray one and i am trying to keep everything silver and black in the engine bay.

I would say depending on what color. Black would look good because our intake manifold is black. And if you do it yourself I would use high temp paint and do a very very good pre paint prep like sanding and degreasing and such with good solvent such as denatured alcohol... but be careful with that stuff.
