Who has installed an AE auto-dim mirror, or equivalent, in their 2K?

I think this will be my next project. I am looking for some guidance. I am most interested in the hook up portion. I am not too concerned with taking the stock one off.

Is this an easy installation hooking up the electrical aspects? Do you have pictures of an install? Instructions maybe (do they come with the new mirror?)?

Also, have you installed the Nissan brand or have you gone after-market?

i ordered an auto-dimming mirror for my friend... the nissan auto-dimming mirror is actually made from gentex
i think nissan is selling their mirrors for like $160+ but you can actually buy the Gentex one for only $100 + $6.50 shipping from lovecars.com
he has it and it is identical to the one that comes in 2k1 nissan cars... the link is http://www.lovecars.com/store/index.htm

scroll down until you see the NVS Mirror by Gentex... thats the one... basically you have to attach power and ground to it... thats all that it needs... the ideal thing is to attach it to power that goes on when u turn the ignition on and goes off when u shut the ignition off... like the cigarete lighter... he attached his to his sunroof motor since it is close to there... i dunno where the motor on our 5th gens are...they might be behind the sunroof... but basically thats the idea... if u got ques. lemme know and ill try to answer them...

I have an auto-dimming mirror from Donnelley electronics. It also has an outside temperature and compass displays. Paid somewhere around $180-$200. I was at the auto show this last weekend and saw my exact same mirror in a displayed Toyota Sequoia (spell?). Although, I am sure you have auto climate control and have an ambient temprature display so you might not be interested. I am pretty sure that you can buy an auto dimming mirror with only a compass from Nissan.

Give Dave a call at southpoint and he'll hook you up with one with just a compass. I was thinking about getting one, but I heard that it's difficult to remove the old mirror, and there is a good possibility that you will crack your windshield, so I didn't get it. If you get one, then let me know how the installation went. Also, post pics if you can.

i ordered the one for $100 for my friend... i paid $106.50 for it... they are good... ye dave at southpoint has them too but he doesnt have the plain ones... he has the one with the compass and the one with the temp and compass.. no plain ones like in the 2k1 maxs
