Tranny problem or is it the Cat?

Ok so I had the shift delay thing so I bought new solenoids from DaveB and got them installed at a local tranny shop. The tech at the shop told me the problem didn't go away. I remembered the TSB stated that if the problem doesn't go away replace the TCM. The tech said he read the TSB but recommends taking it to an exhaust shop to have the cat replaced. He said the car shifts fine when cold but not when warm so it has to be a clogged cat. If the cat was clogged wouldn't a CEL come on?

Cat aint got nothing to do with it. Its going to be the TSB if you already replaced the Solenoids already.

I think it's behind the stereo. I could be wrong (can someone verify). I heard it wasn't too hard to replace but the part itself is expensive.

behind the AC console actually. to get it out, you'll need to remove the ash tray panel.

Just curious, how much were the solenoids, and how much did you pay for the install?

It was mostly the 2-3 shift. The TSB says to replace the solienoids first and if that doesn't work then replace the TCM. The Solenoids were $287 from DaveB

$205 for installation. I just learned Nissan lists the TCM for $639 I'm gonna search junkyards for some 01's. **** if I don't find anything I'm gonna email nissan 10,000 times asking for a free o charge installation.

Well I got a TCM that Im getting rid of. Came out of my 2001. It is the updated TCM and I dont need it anymore because I did a 5spd swap.

Shoot me an offer at dsuthar@witness.com if you want it, otherwise I got another buyer who wants it.
