Grille-Tech Grill Inserts

My wife is wanting to put the top and bottom inserts on her 03 and I was wondering if they are of good quality? I plan to have them clearcoated before installation, just to make sure they don't rust, but what about fit and quality of materials, are they any good? Are they fairly easy to install, I would assume that they come with full instructions? Thanks for you help.

What about the top grille? It don't zip-tie does it? I thought it was a replacement grille? Is there a company that makes "GOOD" grilles for our cars? Not zip-tie gutterguard style homemade grilles.

Grill tech is pretty ghetto, I just got em and I thought the zip tie tie down was shoddy.

I put mine on not to long ago. I drenched them in Nyalic clear coat. Grill Tech apparently rusts but i think they look awesome. dont worry about the zip ties. you cant even see them. my fingers are crossed that they dont rust. i dont know if these other people put a good clear coat on themselves. just keep up on maintaining them. wax them and use wd40. if i new how to post pictures i would.

It's been reported many time that those grill rust over time, I would say there is few reasons and a couple of cure.

1-Not made of Stainless steel or aluminium
2-Clear coat or paint offer medium protection against rust

Get those grill Triple chrome processed ( Copper-Nickel-Chrome ) or Powder coated. The Nickel used in the second step in the Chrome process is what really bring the protection against rust. Powder coating also offer a great protection against rust. I have pics of both Steet Scene grills recently chromed but didn't find the time to set-up my car domain profile, so if you are interested in posting let me know and I'll send those today. I hope it help. Got to go the boss is calling, ( sanding floor day today so...) BTW, for the one who didn't know my wife is pregnent, and it's a BOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYY. Wooohooooo.

Cheers

It's true that JMS won't rust but JMS looks not as good though. Especially the lower valence which is one whole piece.

Hey PearlWhtMaX2000, I'm dying to install the 2 grills, but I'll wait another 2-3 weeks until winter is over.

Cheers

NO not Grille Techs!!! They might look good, but they will rust like no tomorrow. I had to reprime and repaint that grille... it looks nice now, hopefully no more problems.....

I recommend JMS, but the looks are a bit different

Well, I am going to have to bite the bullet and order the Grille-Tech grilles for my wife's car. She is insisting that I put these on her car, and that's fine with me, I will have them clearcoated before installation by my local body shop, that does all of my work, they are good friends of the family, so I should be able to get it done for free and as often as needed. Thanks guys for your opinions, but it looks like the wife won this one.

I have had them on my car for a year now and jus a little spec of rust on the one corner and i live in chicago suburbs, (the salt city capital of the world). I do like the looks of them as well.

if you give them another coat of clearcoat, you should be ok for a while i would imagine.

maximo-se, it's her car. so I have to do what she wants, but I do get a say, especially since I will be the one installing them, but yeah, it's great having a wife that likes cars and especially modding them. she is wanting NOS next, among other things like suspension work, carbon fiber dash kit, retinting the windows, GLE factory wheels and stuff like that.

I finally reinstalled mine the other day. Awhile back I sanded off the rust, then applied 1 coat of high-temp primer, 3 coats of high-temp gunmetal, and 3 coats of high-temp clearcoat. Hope it last a little longer this time...

What a lucky guy, he basically tell her what mods to put on,( but like a gentleman he say it's her idea) then she pay for it and he finally install and of course he need to test ride first, just in case something goes wrong. OMG she want Nitrous, tell her they only have 100 shots in stock lol It remind me a Rod Stewart's song call " Some guys have all the luck " Good for you man.

Cheers

Thanks guys, but just for the record, I have a 92 5.0 Mustang with NOS and a brand new Dodge Ram Hemi truck, that will soon have NOS, so believe it or not, the NOS is her idea, but either way, it is great to a have a wife that is both supportive and opinionated when it comes to cars and modding them. At first she hated this car because of the automatic, but now she wants it fixed up and tricked out a little to make it look better and be "faster".
