ECU Reset for 2001 SE

Can someone please tell me how to rest the ECU on a 2001 SE. Also if anyone knows how to check the codes let me know. My SES light just came on and want to see if it was a fluke or if there is something genuinely wrong, and by the looks of things it looks like its an ongoing problem with the MAX. Thanks

you will have to get access to a odb-2 diagnostic tester to pull the codes. if you dont want to purchase your own then you can visit an autozone if you have one local. they will pull the code for no charge. testers can be had for what i consider very little money considering it will test any 95 and up vehicle. the tester will allow you to erase the code after the repair is done and it should go away. you can reset the ecu by unplugging the negative battery terminal overnight but i would suggest pulling the code first.

Is this the only way to pull the code?By using the tester?
