I recently bought a 2001 20th Anniversary edition Maxima with the Z, leather, and meridian packages.

I was thinking about replacing all the suspension with a package from stillen. It is the same package they put on their project cars when they build Maximas.

I was going to get front and rear STB's, Rear Sway bar, Iboc racing springs that lower the car 1.4" in the front, and 1.3", as well as Tokico struts.

Can anyone think of any reasons why I shouldn't go with this Stillen recommended package?

Are any problems with lowering the car, or changing the struts? Does this affect the ABS system or the Z traction control that I have?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

Rear STB isn't really worth it unless you're autocrossing. FSTB, RSB are great. Iboc.. I assume you mean Eibach and Tokicos, lots of people have this setup. There is slight concern about the longevity of the tokicos at this point but they are the only direct bolt on replacement that I know of. Also, don't buy this stuff straight from stillen. Use the search function and find out where other people bought their mods. You will save a lot that way. Lastly, none of the mods should affect the brakes or the traction control.

The suspension setup you listed is good except for the RSTB... you won't need it.

Tight ride (When/where are we gonna meet?)

Wassup Dan? They're right, Stillen prices are steep, and you won't need the RSTB. I'm not sure if the prices I gave you were Stillen's or not. Ask around.

Re: Tight ride (When/where are we gonna meet?)

Hey Rich, thanks for the info. I shopped around a bit, but Stillen seems to be giving me a great deal on all the parts since I am buying them all in a big package deal. I don't mind spending $10 more for a part at Stillen because I am saving money on shipping costs (All coming at once) and I will have a single place to return things if I don't like something.

Since so many of you recommend not getting the Rear Strut Tower brace, I won't buy it. I wasn't too excited about drilling holes in my car anyway.

Let me know when you want to get together, and we can meet up. We can meet at the Oxford Valley mall parking lot or something. Maybe even Nifty Fifties on Street Road. That place is cool, and we will have parking in the back of the place.

Stillen can be "not that bad"

My 2 cents.
When I bought the Eibach/Tokico combo, I couldn't find a price lower than Stillen direct ($510 for 4th gen springs and struts). The FSTB can be had for less. The streetbeats version comes to mind ($35). I also got an addco RSB from Courtesy, but in hindsight, I'm not sure that I wouldn't now pay the extra $$ for the adjustability.
Avalon Racing (present on this board) seems to be able to offer lower prices for Stillen product than Stillen direct.

People have had problems with Tokicos, but I've had mine for about 1.5yr and 15K mi with no problems. The car is stiff as I don't know what over these PA potholes (anyone want to trade H&Rs for Eibachs?). The setup you're looking at will definitely add to the handling.
