I got engine light and the code is P0420 (Catalyst system efficiency below threshold (Bank 1)). I dont know what that mean. My car have about 58,000 miles. What part do I need to buy to get it fix?

Someone told me that I should buy y-pipe and that will solve the problem, is that true?

you dont need to buy anything and a y pipe will not solve it. the y pipe will provide a nice power gain and eliminate one of the precats but that does affect this code. the repair for this code is to go to nissan and have them flash the ecu for no cost. its covered under the 8yr/80k federally mandated warranty. if the flash does not cure it then the cat will have to replaced.
