Question regarding Y-pipe from those in the know.

Question regarding Catman Y-pipe from those in the know. For anyone who has installed a Catman or aftermarket Y pipe on a 3.0 liter VQ max. Are there better gains from the Y Pipe if you use an aftermarket Catback exhaust or are the gains better with the stock catback. Pros/Cons if any would be appreciated in your responses. Being specific I am planning with in the next week to install a Cattman Y Pipe & was also planning at the same time to install the Greddy Evo 2 Catback system. But started second guessing my self when I was reading threads regarding loseing low end torque with aftermarket catbacks. Should I just install the Y Pipe or go with the exhaust as well . Does anyone here have this exact setup that I was planning on installing next week. Your advice or comments would be very much appreciated being that this is going to run $1000 dollars installed. Thanks in advance for any one or everyone who can help me out.

ok.. let me tell you what i know..
a catback only give like 5 hp .. not that much gains..
and u could loose back pressure thats why u loose low end.. in my opinion cat back is mosly for sound...
you would get good Hp gain just with the y pipe.. especially if u have an intake...

I just had my y pipe installed that I got from warpspeed group deal. It definitely feels like it gained performance and the sound is incredible not to noticeable cruising but when you give it gas it has a deep mellow tone like a 350z IMO. btw I have berk and the rest of my exhaust is stock.

just installed mine from the GD too
LOVE IT!! nice deep growl
i have GAB and stock cat-back
y-pipe + hi-flow intake = more performance diffirence
y-pipe + cat back = more sound diffirence

I have a......

I have a Hi-flow Intake by Stillen . Was just wondering if there was a synergistic effect from a Aftermarket Y-Pipe and Aftermarket catback exhaust. Meaning okay so you get a 15 horsepower increase from the Y-Pipe and you get a 5 horsepower increase from the exhaust & 5 horsepower increase from your Hi Flow intake if they were on your car seperately. But if you put them on together, "Alltogether" can you expect better overall gains. Like 2 + 2 +2 = 10 rather than 6 ? alla synergistic effect. Is this the case or No?

keep your catback stock, unless you want noise. the cost+noise factor offsets any (5hp) gains.

I had my WSP Y-pipe installed and now my engines drones at idle, mostly with the A/C on. Otherwise it is pretty quiet. Also it does shake a little when it drones. anyone else have this issue?

I'm running Cattman Y with Greddy Evo catback. By itself the Evo did have a nice low growl when you punch it, but was relatively quiet. Add the y-pipe, and the exhaust is definitely louder and has a low drone at idle, still doesn't sound all too bad, but I would have probably gone with a quieter muffler if I had to do it again.

If you are sitting at a light A/C on, with your foot on the break and the car in drive, granted your's is auto, I didn't chk, do you feel a slight vibration with the drone?
