Changing out wheel studs

OK,

This will be my first time actually changing wheel studs and was hoping someone that has can give me some pointers, tools needed and advice as what needs to be done.

Yes, I could go out and completely remove my wheel, caliper and rotor and kinda figure out what I need, but I am hoping to appeal to the .ORG community for some assistance.

Also, I got 5MM spacers from AutoOptions (optauto.com) and am curious if they come with wheel studs. The AutoOption Website says the kit is a DRS kit and H&R Website says DRS comes with wheel studs. Anybody know for sure?

Once you get the wheel and caliper and rotor removed. All you have to do is with a hammer bang the old studs out. Two hard bangs and it will pop right out from the rear of the hub. There is about only one spot on the front that it can come out easily. Then just pop in the new studs and they will self tighten once you put the wheel back on and tighten the nut.

The 5mm spacers dont come with studs. NO need for them. Only the 15mm and 20mm ones come with studs.

You don't need longer studs for 5mm spacers

I have a set of H&R 5mm spacers sitting in the garage and they do come with studs. I tried them with stock wheels on the stock studs and it didn't look like the studs were long enough to be safe to drive on. A little over half the nut was on the stud.

Just my $.02

Where did ja get them? Where they marked as the "DRS" series?

And if they DO come with studs, Im going to put them on. No sense in being stupid. An hour or two of my time will make up for the 1 times Mr. Murphy shows up and screws me.

I measured out 5mm on teh studs last night and "tested" what it would look like too. Being that I could not keep the rim "straight" it was hard to tell, but kinda looked like I would be short.

I just need to find a place that sells thin walled sockets. I keep breaking mine.

Optauto.com and I am 99% sure they are marked DRS. I think that is all they make in the 5mm. I only tried them on the front. The back has the 20mm with the longer studs already.

COOL! Thats where I purchased them from so I can "hope" I get all the correct pieces.

I want to put a larger spacer on the back, but am worried about premature wheel bearing failure.

I got the H&R 5mm wheel spacers. HR01065662. They are the DRS ones and they come with longer studs. The wheel has to be held on by 6 turns of the lugnut. If it's not you need the longer studs.

Actually you cant get them at any parts store. Only nissan dealers and only FEW select ones. I went through this already. Ended up getting them from courtesy.

The other dealers around me dont stock nismo stuff, and the one that did only has the ones for the 300zx. Those dont fit out hubs, they are too skinny.
