popping/grinding sound when I turn

Well, this is kind of an ongoing problem..

I had my TEIN H-TECH and Illumina's installed about 4 weeks ago...had a popping sound and was told it may be a spring and to drive for a week and see if it settles. Against my better judgement I did so, it did not stop so I took it back and they ripped it apart. Problem was they put the top plate on my Drivers side strut on backwards. They fixed it, put it back together and all was kind of well..

Problem 2. when I got it back there was still a sort of Popping/Grinding sound but not bad at all, after about 2 weeks it was almost as bad as when I started..I took it back yesterday, they took it apart, put it back together and it's still there...it's not nearly as bad as when I dropped it off but I suspect the sound will get worse in the next week or so...

Does anyone know if I could have damaged that plate at the top of the strut, causing it to make a noise when I turn? Any other Ideas? Thanks

it could be when they placed the top hat backwards, it damaged the strut bearing. im sure when it was backwards it did not allow the strut bearing to turn freely and now it is bad.

once it goes bad, it does not turn freely which in returns causes the spring to turn a bit and then it uncompresses and snaps back making that popping sound. I would go to the dealer and get a new one. it cost me $17.90.

How would you describe the sound of a bad strut bearing? I've had continual issues with a loose sound from my passenger's side since I installed my Illuminas. I looked at my strut bearing and it didn't appear damaged. What do I look for? Also, could it be it just needs greased? Mine looked pretty dry.

anytime i went over a small bump i would hear a small thud like something was loose. however, if i went over a bigger bump i wouldnt hear anything. also, when i would turn the wheel i would hear a clicking and popping sound.

when you turn the bottom of the strut bearing it should turn extremely smooth. i would just pick up a new one from the dealer since they are so cheap and not worry about trying to grease it up.

make sure the strut bearing is in the right place as well. i made that mistake the first time.

i just found this site the other day when someone posted it:
