Blose $ucks!!!
Well, my Blose took a dump on me today!! Stupid thing won't play any CD's anymore. Also, the damn thing scratched up EVERY cd I put in there. All this time I loved my Blose but now I think I am going to move on to something better. Good riddance Blose!!

I also have the "optional" Bose system on my 2k2, I think the speakers are awsome~ It has good Bass and Trib. I like the 6 disc CD changer too. The only thing that really annoys me is that since winter of last year, my CD player starts to skip pretty crazy, I don't know if its because I play too many CD-Rs or something b/c I rarely listen to Original CD's.
I am thinking about getting a MP3 player if my Bose system ever goes out on me. MP3's will hold more songs per CD and it WON"T skip! However, I have NO complaints for the speakers. I think they are great!

My Bose home theatre speakers perform far better than the Bose system in the cars i've owned or driven (older Maxes, 00 TL, 95 Camaro, 95 Vette) -- all their car audio seems to be buggy, flat, far too heavily biased towards the midrange, incapable of handling low freqs without vibrating incessantly, and eating CDs, tapes, blowing up for no reason, or just dying randomly. The one in my dad's 00 TL would overheat on car trips after a few CDs and refuse to play anything until it cooled off for 30-45 mins.
No complaints about their home theatre stuff. But good lord, it seems like the car audio is made by a whole different company.

Well, for now, I'm hoping to get a Eclipse HU and keep the stock speakers and sub. I actually didn't mind the sound of the Bose but that damned HU kills it all. I might end up upgrading all speakers and add a sub.

Just wondering...
Makes me refer back to Nissan marketing: "Details overlooked: at least one" hehe

The HU is a Clarion unit. The only thing thats Bose is the amp and subwoofer. I've never had a chance to open up the system but does the 2k+ Bose system have seperate amps for each speaker like the 3rd and 4th gens? I've only noticed that one sorta good sized amp (for a stock unit) on the rear deck for the 8" woofer on the rear deck. Is it me, or does the HU on the 2k-2k1's seem more reliable than the 2k2-2k3's?
On a side note....the Bose is only I believe a $500-$600 dollar option on a 2k-2k1 on SE's. Its not that expensive when you compare it to other OEM stereo options. For what you get, IMHO its well worth the money because the system is well matched and is balanced. The Highs aren't brassy, the mids aren't over powering to the point where you have to squint your ears, and the bass isn't too the extreme but its there. Toyota used to charge well over $1,000 for their 'premium' sound system on the 92-96 Camry's and its sound quality doesn't rival that of the same year Maxima's with Bose.
I've heard the Infiniti Sound system in a 95 Jeep CG and a 2004 Jeep CG, its NOTHING compared to the Bose. Its bass is biased towards the rear...who the heck wants to sit in the rear cargo area to hear deep bass? The bass itself is weak until you hit the extremly low notes and then its not full at all. The mids and the highs though, is where that system has it down. Thats my opinion though.
