MAF Problems

Who else has had a bad or going bad MAF? I just replaced mine for some 1st gear, low rpm, cold engine hesitation. No problems anymore. I did install a drop in K&N filter about a week or two prior to the MAF having problems.

I'm wondering if this is a common problem, or maybe it was just the filter install. I've heard of oil from the filter getting on the wire. Not sure if I believe this one or not.

schmatt - first of all, read that little sentence below your name on the left ("I need to read..."), and do it....

secondly - there are a billion threads on this subject - since you can't search, just scan through the last 10 pages of posts and you will find all you ever wanted to know about MAFs (and more).....they are easy to find bc there are alot of em.

Schmatt,

I've got a drop in K&N filter also and it never gave me problems. I made sure all
excessive oil was remove prior to installing. On my S10 Crew Cab my drop in
filter did get alittle oil on my MAF and I took an air compressor to clean it out.
Now I have no problems with it. As for oil getting on the MAF from the filter it
does happen if there are too much oil on the filter to begin with.
