please explain transmission slipping in 2000
I have a 2000 automatic; I have occasionally seen posts regarding the transmission slipping but I had never experienced it so I haven't paid attention. I rarely get the car over 1/2 throttle but the other day I made a u-turn with oncomming traffic so I put it to the floor and it wound up in 1st and then didn't shift into 2nd for a long time. Can someone please explain the problem....is it really a problem that will lead to bigger problems or is it an unfortunate characteristic of the car that will not lead to failure? If it is fixable is it covered under a drivetrain warranty? I have 40K on mine so it is out of 3/36...is there another drivetrain warranty that extends further? Thanks to anybody that can explain this!
There was a TSB for the 2000 on sloppy shifting from 1st to 2nd. I think they had to replace a solenoid but I don't remember the exact details. I would guess it should be covered by the Powertrain warranty. You should be able to find all the TSBs in the stickies.

Not sure if it is covered under the powertrain, if you find out can you post it>
Thanks
It's covered under the powertrain, and i acctually experienced this a couple times, but whats weird is when i had it checked out it shifted fine, i donno what made it do that a couple times, but it's fine as of now. But if you can take your car for a ride with someone at the dealership and show them there is delayed shifting, they will take this up with nissan and acctually replace your whole transmission. That's what they told me, "if you can prove to this guy (nissan mechanic who's been around for a while) that your tranny is slipping, you'll get a brand new tranny for free since it's under warranty" once i heard that i wanted the god damn car to slip ;ppp and cory you'll only see it happen at half throttle or greater. After i brought it to the dealer on a friday and they didn't find any problems, i tested over the weekend, and the first time i got onto a main road i floored it and there was a little delay, but not a big one, but after that if shifted fine, i'd push your car a little and then give it a couple tries and see if it does it every time, if it does it a couple times in one drive, bring it to the dealer. I brought that TSB and they said it was out of date, and nissan simply recommends a new tranny.
