I really like the 2k2 center console and the shifter is it possible to put it in a 2k1 and does any1 have pics of it??

I think the auto trannies were the same from 2k/2k1-2k2/2k3. Anyone switch out their 2k-2k1 shifter to the 2k2-2k3 gated shifter? Thats what I want to do!

 

Yeah i like that shifter its nice looking but i wonder what kind of work u would have to do to make a change like that..

 

Thats what Im trying to figure out. I would love to put in the I35 shifter. What we really need it to put in the G35 shifter with the manumatic function

I was joking about the G shifter... But am very serious about the I35 shifter. Although I really dont want the console, just the gated shifter!

Anyone know the differences between the two shifting mechanisms underneath the console?

Unfortunately, I dont have any friends with a 2k2+ Max or I35. Could anyone with a 2k2+ take a pic with the console and shifter removed, so I could see the shifter mech. underneath? Or if someone with a 2k2+ in the San Diego area wants to get together and tear apart center consoles with me to see what will work, you could PM me.

 

are 01's and 02's the same for manual trannies or different? transferrable?

 

I think the Autos are the same... That is the only reason I think it is even possible.

I would REALLY appreciate a nice high res. pic of the 5.5 gen auto shifter mechenism. If I ever get to do this I will post a how-to.

I think some1 should rent a 2k2 max and take apart the console and take some pics and post it up i think that would be the best idea..

 

Where would you purchase a new center console and dash? I would like to change my interior to black and tan instead of the frost and tan.

 

i have an 00 and i just swapped the 2k3 interior into my car...are u talking about the console around the shifter? if so, auto is a no go....they are different...manual, i'd think u should be able to do it.... i swapped everything in the car except the dash, shifter console, the middle armrest(my choice, but could be done), the headliner(it had a sunroof, i didn't) and the carpet(too much work, u would have to cut the carpet behind the dash and below the middle armrest) and the rear deck(my choice).... if anyone needs help taking the interior apart, let me know... i spent 4+ hrs swapping interiors last weekend...

 

Where did you purchase it? I want to replace the dash, center console, center armrest and rear deck. I looked on a couple of junk yard websites, but no one had any any black interiors, I thought about dying it.

 

i found a untouched totalled max at a bodyshop....and i made a deal w/ them, since they were gonna send it to the junkyard...

here are some pics i took a yesterday, i haven't cleaned the car...so bare w/ me....i also changed the door handles too, i forgot to mention that.

So did the console just not fit or was the shifter linkage different? I dont want to swap out the console, just the shifter. I realize they are different sizes, but if I could hook up the new shifter (and have it work) I would just cut out my console to the correct size.

Do you have the shifter mechanism for the 2k2? I would like to buy it form you if you are not using it. Maybe I could figure out a way for it to work.

--ok, the shifter u can't do... b/c a 2k/2k1 is differnt then a 2k2/2k3....and plus, the 2k shifter console is longer...u would have to do a conversion to use that shifter in the 2k2's...it's not worth it... the car is being taken to the junkyard....

--yes i changed the seats...the door panels, all pillars, the panels underneath steering wheel, glove box, etc...

--yup, middle console is a no go...

 

Could you please send me the shifter before you send it back.

 

sorry i can't, the deal i had w/ the bodyshop was that i had to swap things out of my car... i'll try to find it when they take it to the junkyard/auction....

 

Now I dont think they would miss the shifter too much
