Just installed leather e-brake boot. *How-to and Pics.*

I've always thought the 5th gen. Maxima emergency brake boot was chinsy looking, particularly the fact that the end of the plastic base is visible through the rubber boot. I bought a black leather shift boot with titanium stitching from redlinegoods.com. I installed it a bit differently than Redline recommended, but I actually prefer this look because there is no loose bunched fabric. The boot can be pulled down tight around the old plastic boot. The how-to I put together includes both install methods.

Did you replace the shift boot as well? I looks like it matches perfectly. I don't think mine has bright constrasting stitching like that.

Nope. That's the factory shift boot that comes with the Titanium Edition - Titanium colored stitching. It's a very good match, though the grains of the leather are slightly different. No biggie.

Looks great. Is black the only available color for the leather e brake boot?

Thanks. Nope, it comes in a couple different browns too and you can pick the stitching color.

I've got digital climate control. Just set the temp and it takes care of the rest. Surprised you haven't seen it before. Great option.

Not that I am one to comment and I certainly mean no offense, but I HATE the way we need to tuck the boot inside the rubber. I would like to clean it up more like the 4th gens. does anyone have any suggestions? you can see my momo boot/handle on page 2 of my cardomain!

Hah, I was just about to show him your pic Irish! As I mentioned in the first post, you can install it to look like the 4th gens. I chose to install mine this way because I prefer the boot be pulled very tight. Irish's pic is an example of the install method recommended by Redline. Both are outlined in the how-to.

I think your way looks better on your car because of the overall look of the 5.5th gen center console and the color of your interior. If I had done it that way I'd have the ugly brown rubber OVER the black leather and it would have looked retarded. Goes to show that even the same basic car can look different with the same mod!

Your interior looks clean, housecor. I am trying to sell the e-brake boot from leatherseats.com. If you're interested, please take a look at my listing in the F/S forum. Thanks for looking.
