I don't like the cold air intake.

I don't know if it is the same with every one who had one.

When i start the car it sound like there is sand in the engine,i have the clip for it ,but i can't host it.That one thing.

Now when driving normally its okay, but when i floor it .Whisling noise come from the intake.

Is it the same with every one or just me.

That whistle is from the flap in the throttle body. I have that noise too. To be honest with you, I dont even notice it anymore.

Which intake do you have? For me, the growl of my intake more than makes up for a little whistling sound.

I have Frankencar and I haven't noticed a whistling noise. However, many .org members have mentioned this. I get a whooshing noise at very low speed when I let off the gas and car is rolling. Kinda cool.

I have the frankencar....I hear a slight whistle when lightly on the throttle, but at 1/2 throttle and more it's just plain growl.....

The "sand in the engine" sound you are hearing is the sound of air rushing through the filter and intake. The reason you don't hear this with the OEM air box is the air comes in at the front of the car through a smaller opening.

I personally like the "whooshing" sound of air pouring into the intake. I get a little annoyed at the whistle when I'm in a traffic jam, but otherwise it's kind of cool.....some chick asked me if I had a turbocharger when she heard it. Of course I told her "yes"

Ditto, Stillen intake whistles when accelerating, but then starts to growl. When idling, especially on cold start, you can hear a "whooshing" kinda, or vacuum cleaner, or "sand" sound... and I like it...

I have berk. There is a whoOP! when I tap the throttle, but I can only hear it with the hood open.

You should here my place racing. When i remote start my car (brag brag brag) all i can here is this whooshing coming from my left clear corner. it is kind of odd but it has grown on me. I like being able to hear that sound, it tells me maxine is alive and breathing.

I just added a heat sheild and a hose to direct fresh air towards my Berk. I'll post a picture later today for those that are interested.

My Berk does whistle, but you don't notice it after awhile. At idle and crusing its quiet, and above 3,000 RPM there is a nice growl. I am hoping it will improve MPG, but too soon to say since its been in for only a week.

I saw the pics of your "heat shield and a hose". Can you explain how you made it and from what? Is that an existing part you re-used?

I don't think you can improve your MPG ,here in Chicago 93 P gas is $2.11 per gallon.

Place Racing makes it. But make sure to order a diff filter from someone else, because they send you that monster flow which does not fit in there very well, and is bad for your car if the foam breaks down.

Cattman makes very nice stuff. I'd say give that a try over the Place Racing.

I could only find an "Injen" CAI on SWA's web site...
http://store.yahoo.com/southwestauto...maincoai1.html

I couldn't find "Place Racing's" CAI

and google found Place Racing's website for me, but it was under construction, I could only order a catalog. for $1 w/credit card.

Before I make a quick decision, I'll keep asking around, but the fact that you have the SWA website on your sig, and recommend the cattman makes me feel like cattman might be the right way to go...plus it's about $60 cheaper.

thanks!

I believe Cattman & PR are essentially the same type/design of intakes which are true CAI's -- have to cut a hole in the fender though.

SWA usually sells products a bit cheaper if you call them directly & mention you're an org member as opposed to ordering online from their site.
