Stopper under accel pedal???

The little black stopper under the gas pedal. What is it there for? Is there any benefit if taken off?

Its there to stop the accelerator from travelling to far. On the 5.5 gen models it is drive by wire (electronic), if the pedal were to travel farther it would set of check engine lights and the car would not operate properly. There was a saftey recall, because the first stopper they put on wouldn't stop the pedal from traveling to far if you mashed the go pedal. http://www.alldata.com/TSB/41/02416293.html

I took it off earlier. It seems like the transmission kicks down (downshifts) more often down. I like it. Im just gonna remind myself not to press too hard. Around a certain mph it use to not downshift, if just stayed in the gear it was in. Now it seems to downshift in that same area rather than staying in the gear it was in. No lights so far.

By removing that accelerator pedal stop you gain around 5fwhp at the higher rpm range. I removed mine the day I bought the car.

Take that stopper out dude, it doesn't come on all of 'em, only on the ones that were meant for rental fleets, it acts as a governor. But then again, I thought I read that stopper is the Nitrous Oxide activator. I'M SO CONFUSED!

umm... I'm guessing that you're joking about that, too? Can't really tell.
