What's wrong with my car?

My car has a significant loss of power in he high-mid to high RPM range. I will get on the throttle and most of the time when I hit 4500 RPM power just drops and the car sits. If I back off and then throttle again, power comes but it is weak. Isn't the top-end of this car supposed to be strong? What is my problem? Is it the MAF?

I guess if it is my MAF that is acting up, I can put in the stock airbox and take it to the dealer. However, the sensor isn't fully blown--the car still revs to redline--so is there a way I can try to clean it?

I have the exact same problem on my 2k SE 5sp. I get a little kick between 3900 and 4100 then that's it, no more torque or power. I get power drop between 2400 and 3000 as well. ABDomega, do you see this as well? I thought maybe this was fuel injector being dirty or the fact that one of my front O2 is out. My car will do redline in first gear fine, 2nd gear weak, and can't really redline in 3rd gear cuz it takes forever. Maybe we can help each other out

I was already gonna buy O2 sensor, floor mats, air filter, and oil filters from the same place. I guess I could spend another 70 bucks for the MAF sensor. From reading other threads, I might need new ignitions coils and ECU flash. Maybe I should just get a better car...

make sure the variable intake opens up. I was just out at the drag strip and mine didn't open up like it was supposed to. One vaccum line came off and was causing it not to open. Still ran a 15.2@91MPH with no variable intake and a really bad bog at the line.

MAF issue, or possibly the VTC isn't working right.

95-99 VQ30DE and 00-01 VQ30DE-K have no VTC sprockets on them, its all old school technology in making HP. Only the VQ35DE and VE30DE (92-94 Max) have VTCs that go bad, VQ30 is tha shiznit.
