Well my 8 yr old Lumina with 121,000 miles died (thank God!!!) so I treated myself to a new Maxima SE (fully loaded) and I love it.
My problem is a jealous wife. She has a 2 yr old Accord (4cyl. engine - ha ha) and wants more access to my new car. How can I legally keep her from driving my Max.

your in chicago ... have the MOB take her out!

na, just tell her it sucks and you hate driving it b/c... but it could backfire. she could say that you just drive her car and she'd take the max.

Simple-Don't let her drive it. My wife loved her Windstar minivan until she borrowed my Max. Now she is always trying to use it and she is hinting that the Windstar is getting old. Don't let her drive it. Don't let her drive it. Don't let her drive it. Don't let her drive it. Don't let her drive it. Don't let her drive it. Don't let her drive it. Don't let her drive it. Don't let her drive it. Don't let her drive it. Don't let her drive it. Don't let her drive it. Don't let her drive it. Don't let her drive it. Don't let her drive it.

So that she could not drive it. But all of a sudden she is now interested in learning. HA! Fat chance. I let her drive it and it will have spilled pop all over the inside and scuffs and scratches all over the wheels when she is not paying attention...Ugg. Plus I do not think there is a legal way to stop her from driving it anyway.

I'm suffering from the same problem. Getting a 5spd car didn't help because my wife drives a stick too.

Well, there's several things!!

1) trick her into thinking it's really a newer accord.

2) modify the car to the point she would be embarrassed to drive it (loud exhaust, a **** on women sticker, something like that)

3) tell her your ex-girlfriend has one

4) buy her a 93-98 Supra

I too, used to feel a sense a despair and sadness when I used see my girlfriend drive away in my max. Leaving me with her 93 civic coupe. Until one day it hit me, make her car nicer and then she wont't touch my baby. So we put wheels, interior : seats, dash, door panels, a little knock-knock and open up the exhaust with hi-flow and g-reddy exhaust and so far so good. So she is happy for now???

I re-wired the eject button on the CD player so that you can only eject CD's via a secret button in the glove compartment. Whenever I get out the vehicle I leave my Black Sabbath CD in the player. I keep telling her I'll get it fixed soon.

Another idea

If she is substantially shorter than you, you could disconnect the power seat at the spot where you need it to be. Not going anywhere stick, or auto if she can't reach the pedals.

Simple--take her off the insurance. Just tell her she is not covered on the maxima cause it is too expensive to add her to the insurace. When my girl friends ask to drive the car i just say that they can't handle the power. :-)

Option 1: Get one of those topless girl air fresheners
Option 2: Keep all your dirty laundry inside your Max (She'll hate to have topick up after you)

Option 3: Get a big plate of rice and beans, and let loose and obnoxious fart with the windows closed. (which the topless girl air freshener should hopefully take care of)

Tell her that the colour doesn't match her lipstic, or that the gnuten valve is broken.

Tell her the car makes her look fat, that should do it!

This is a simple reason to always be prepared. You would have avoided this if you bought the wife and married the max!!!

This is a big problem. I stand my ground with my 2000 Max SE as I did with my 1997 Max SE. I am proud that I have not caved in, and have protected my Maximas from my wife's poor driving. I did let her use my 1980 210 when it aged to over ten years. But even then only with permission, and there had to be a good reason. My Nissans have all been manuals.
She can drive the minivan. That is what I bought it for, and its poor handling matches her poor driving.
Even if she was a good driver I would not let her use it.
She can look at it, sit in the passenger seat. One day my wife stepped in dog s--t and brought it into my car. Anyway she saved the marriage by scrubbing it clean. But the lesson I learnt from that, is that I don't share my Maxima. Not with my wife, and in fact not with friends.

Martin is...The Man.

I have a problem with my brother stealing my car in the mornings while i am still soundly asleep (he's still in high school, he actually wakes up before noon). It unerves to imagine him hauling around in my baby, racing his riceboy friends and throwing it around like another civic, manually shifting it with utter disregard for the fine example of engineering he's behind the wheel of. It's not like i don't already have enough paint chips on my car. His brand new Toyota 4Runner doesn't seem to be enough for him.. he has to take my lowered max over speed bumps like an SUV :P. Needless to say i give him a sound beating each time. My mom, who used to love driving my max has since given up due to the bumpy uncomforatble ride and loud engine noises . She also just bought a new E430...that could be it... My girlfriend won't even think about it. She sees that I treat the car better than I treat her and fears the consequences. This however, has also caused some tension in our relationship, and has resulted in her referring to Max as "the other woman."

My advice to those who can't get their wives to stop driving their cars? C'mon, it's time to decide what's REALLY important to you, you're wife, or your car. It's time to choose sides.. Get a divorce.

j/k

I may have missed it somewhere.. but why not put a new clutch in with an incredibly stiff pedal? Worked for me a few years back on a *cough* Fiero.

Barring that... hidden engine kill switch.. just tell her you have to take it to the dealer everyday because it doesn't like to start... feign ignorance.
