How do you disable governer in 2000 maxima GLE, not speeding of course but lets Iam trying to get away from a tornado or other natural disaster, life and death stuff you know.

 

Buy Apexi RSM and proper speed rated tires(that's why it's limited~!).

Or find the How-To by Ben(mtzg) hack, but if done too long it can cause a CEL.

The 4th gen guys have their governors figured out with a toggle switch. When the bypass the gov it does throw a cel.

 

Thanks for the tips, I know I must sound dumb here but what is a cel? Is there any harm done if a use Apexi RSM and proper tires of course. I learned that lesson when my 89 maxima and a set of toyo touring tires, running from tornados.

Hey me again, I looked up Apexi RSM and from the information it sounds like a monitoring device, does it also disable governor?

 

It does both, at least the new one does. Check on Apexis' website.

You might double check on the older model, since I know there is an optional G-sensor, but I doubt that makes a difference on the limiter removal. Could be wrong though, so double check BEFORE you buy.

 

Ive heard that the 2k-2k1 has a top speed of about 140. What will our cars do w/o the limiter?

Tires are improtant, but is there a problem with downforce at high speeds? I might havew to get one of those 3ft tall aluminum wings on my I30.

 

Only the SEs w/17" tires don't have a limiter, well besides drag and not enough hp to overcome it.

GXE, GLE, or SE with 16" rims are limited. I've heard 130mph? Or is that only on the autos?

 

I would have hoped for a higher top out speed, my 89SE tops out at about 130-135 with some time. I guess it does, spedo stops 120mph but it goes past that and using same increments of measure past that put's it at 130-135. I know the 2000 gle is alot heavier but I would at least hoped for better. My 2000 cuts off around 120, and gets there alot faster than the 89SE did, which also has 240k miles on it and still doesn't miss a beat.

so the 01 se w/ 17" rims doesnt have a speed limiter? Its automatic, just wonderin cuz you dont list years.

I was only talking about 2K-2K1, not sure about 2K2+.

 

When my 00 se was stock i took it up to 142 and it wasn't topped yet.

 

If I use the Apexi RSM, is there still a chance the cel will come on, cuz I just spent $250 to get the thing off, replaced O2 sensor and reprogrammed ecu.

 

only 17" optioned 5spds have no speed limter installed, dunno bout the 3.5Ls since I quit working at Nissan when the 5th gens just came out. I remember I PDI a few of them before I left for Audi. All other Maximas where limited to 130MPH. I have the SE 17" wheels 5spd program in my GXE ECU and I can redline my car with enough road in 5th- rev limiter kicks in at exacly 160MPH. I have every possible bolt on but cams on my 5spd GXE.

 

17'' 00/01 SE auto or manny has no limiter, as far as I know. When buying the car, I remember specifically, the dealer telling us that it's only on the GLE, GXE and 16'' SEs.
