If I were to buy a Maxima today it would be a 98-99 4th gen and in it I would plant a VQ35.

definetly 5th or no mile 3rd gen. Ive heard great things about the 3rd, i love my 5th, and the 6th gen just looks...well... yea. If i won a 6th gen in a raffle, id sell it for more mods on my 5th lol

The 3rd gen Maxima had the biggest effect on me as far as wanting a Maxima. As soon as I could afford one, the 5th gen had just come out and that's what I have now. I'm still very happy with the car. I feel no need to buy a 6th gen.

I love my 5th gen and I wouldn't have any other maxima. Not even the 5.5 gen, to me the maxima has always been about the 3 liter, VG or VQ. The 6th gens are nice, but in my opinion ugly as all hell. No denying 265 hp though.

My favorite max would be a 2003 6speed with Nav. Modded 5th gens look sweet IMO.

Thi sthread should be titled, "How much do you hate the 6th gen?" There's an opinion thread about the 6th gen in the 6th gen forum.
one acronym: IRS.

My Dream Max would Be a Third Gen SE with a VQ 3.5. Or a supercharged VE! But since that won't happen, a Black on Black VE 5-spd.

as much as i love my 3.5 5th gen, i voted other. I'll never stop kicking myself for selling my loaded and modded 95 5 speed, that car was my baby.

all i'd want now is a 4th gen 5 speed w/ VI, ecu, turbo and all other things needed to accomodate(headers, injectors, etc).

I guess if it puts out more than 214 to the wheels in 4th gear you're right. But somehow I don't think Nissan underrated the newest Maxima...

Injen published a dyno and one 6th gen forum guy claims to have been to the dyno. Both claim +/- 215 FWHP.

Personally I love the interior of the 6 gen 4 seat.
But the ideal car would be the 5.5 Gen front with the 6 Gen rear. Love the dual exhaust and cool rearend look. Hate the front end 6th Gen.
