VQ30 head on VQ35 engine

Has anyone tried swapping in a VQ30 head onto a VQ35 block? If so, does it bolt on directly and how hard is it to do by myself? Thank and any other info would be appreciated.

Will the heads fit? Yes.

Is it practical? No.

If you already have a VQ35 equiped car then your stock intake maniflds are now worthless.

Well I have a 350Z and over on that board there is debate going on about some new Nismo heads that Nismo released for the Z motor (VQ35DE). The head raises compression to like 12 something to one and some argue that getting a VQ30 head, porting and polishing it, then putting it onto the VQ35 block will also raise the compression to around 11.7:1. Now is this all true or does swapping the VQ30 head onto the VQ35 block not yield any significant gains? I was under the impression that since the VQ30 head decreases chamber volume that it would increase the compression thus resulting in more horsepower. However I forgot about the flow characteristics the new head might have. Any info? My goal is to get around 300-350whp all-motor out of the VQ35DE.

What about the whole variable valve timing thing. Wouldn't that be an issue?

VQ30 heads with a VQ35 head gasket will raise the compression to almost exactly 11.5 to 1 . In this there would be some power increase. But Jason has never mentioned, that I have seen, that the intake ports on the Nismo VQ30 head have been re-shaped to the design of the VQ35 intake ports. I currently know of no one who has actually used these heads but I have already talked one person out of using them. For less than the $2000 pricetag of those heads you can have the stock VQ35 heads to yeild the same, if not better, results.

The CVTC control would be an issue because the VQ30 head does not have the oil ports in place to feed the solenoid.
But again, the Nismo heads could possibly be adapted to solve these problems and since Jason has these heads in stock he can take a look at thema nd asnwer these questions.

You said that for less than the 2k price of the nismo heads you can have the stock vq35 heads yield better or same results? How so? What would you recommend on me doing to make at least 300whp all motor aside from basic bolt-ons since I've got that covered. Thanks.

I could go in detail of what I know but honestly the best thing for you to do is to call Dan Paramore Racing and talk to him.

http://www.dprracing.com
He is one of the best if not the best cylinder head guy in the world.

Fawking noob.

This thread is 4 years old. In those 4 years many things have happened, our old ****ty president was reelected, the org changed hands and thread addresses have changed more than once. What 03BlkSETE was linking to originally was a different thread that changed, and then changed again wherein a script probably parsed through every thread changing the links accordingly. So no, he wasn't linking to a supra/FnF thread, and yes it was four years ago. The hell got into you anyway.

Pendejo.

huh?

I love people who know how to search and read. He got to post 2 and assumed thats it there is no info, but sr20den goes on to tell you why this whole idea is bad IN THE SAME THREAD...so the link isn't even neccessary even if it was to the right info.

Besides he shouldn't be cursing out 03blk he should be cursing out IB for changing the code around so it screwed all the links up.

and as a final note, it would be better to take a VQ30 and put the VQ35 heads on it

Man you still don't know how to read. The link did at one point go to the correct place but IB has changed things around so links in old threads don't go to the correct place.

3.5 heads will fit on a 3.0, but it lowers compression and there is a bunch of timing things that have to be done. search for it in All Motor.

You obviously can't proof read either
