SES Light is On

SES Light is On
I had the SES light come on in January, took it to the stealer and they proceeded to rape me. Diagnostic charge - $85 bucks. Then the code comes up as the rear O2 sensor. Here comes another rapeage. So they replace the rear O2 sensor. Not even 4 months later, the SES light is back on? I don't want to go back to the stealer (my *** is still sore from the last time), is there any other way i can find out for myself what the problem could be? I've read posts that AutoZone will do a diagnosis for free but I'm in Toronto Canada so we don't have an AutoZone here.
thanks

You can buy the SAME scanner that the dealer and Autozone uses for about $150. Then you will never have to pay for diagnostics again.
Only place I know of to buy them is, um, Autozone and Advance Auto...but I'm sure you can get it online too..
Can't remember what it's called exactly - someone else here holla!

My ses light for my 2K max is on too, I don't want to get raped either, and I live in Toronto. I read the code my self by grounding the number 9 pin on the ECU data interface. Turn the ignition on (DO NOT START THE CAR) and count the number of times that the indicator lights flashes you can get the code. Let me know if you want more details on this, I'll post...

Details would be great. Thanks.

I'd appreciate the details on pulling the codes manually. Used to do it on my older cars with a paper clip. Didn't realize its possible with these cars. I just bought my 02 a freakin month ago and its already throwing codes.
Does someone have a link to a list of trouble codes? None of this info was in the FAQs and well, you all know about the search function.

Last night I pulled code P1456...Aux. Emissions Control...last night with a scanner. I was thinking that the light coming on somewhat coincided with filling up the fuel tank the other day. I checked the cap and it wasn't loose, but the light ended up going off yesterday anyway. Is that code for the gas cap hopefully?
