Lowering car..need advice

Thinking of lowering my 01 max. Want to start by replacing the OEM springs with some good ones. Any one have any ideas as to what is a cheap but good brand ( my friend recommends Progressive). And also, how much of a drop are we allowed? I don't want to go too low...roughly an inch or so.
Thanks

read the sticky's and do some searching, there is tons of info out there on this topic. find housecor's site and book mark it, it will answer your questions.

i would recommend Maxspeeds. i got mine on ebay for $66 plus shipping (that was a good deal...they usually sell for around $80 - $100).

they are very close to H&R as far as quality and drop amount. they drop somewhere around 1-1.5 in front and around 1 in rear. not too much...but just enough for my 2k. Maxspeeds probably drop the least of all others.

ride quality is good. a bit rougher than stock...but no where as hard as others. well worth the drop. i've have read before that H&R (maxspeeds) are about as close as you can get to stock ride.

check out my homepage for pics. i'm surprised no one else has responded - consider this a bump. alot of guys on here are running Maxspeeds.

Youre gonna want to change your stock shocks and struts at the same time, or youll be bouncing all over the damn place...trust me, i know from experience. Also a great spring if you are looking for a sick drop are the Tein S-Techs. Good ride, and a killer drop. very nice look. Check mine out at my website. I have Teins. There is pretty much no wheel gap at all up front or in the back, you can maybe get one finger between the fender and the top of the tire.

i'll disagree with that!

my recent drop with maxspeeds (as decribed above) was SPRINGS ONLY. i didn't care to spend the money on new shocks when my stock ones were fine.

i have had the maxspeeds with stock 00 shocks for almost a year now with no problems at all - bouncing included.

true...any lowering springs will much more quickly kill your stock shocks. i've read of some people's only lasting a few weeks and then other lasting a year or so.

i just didn't see the need to spend the $ on new shocks when i may or may not get a year out of the stock ones.

i installed my springs myself...so install cost of the springs and/or shocks was not an issue for me.

i plan to get KYB GR-2s when mine start to die/bounce. until then...i don't see the need to spend the $!
