2k rims & RPMs

I've got 2 questions.

1). with a 5 spd y2k max SE I'm turning almost 3K RPM @ 80 MPH in 5th gear. i've seen other cars (not maximas) that don't rev that high at that speed. i know it's probably normal, but i thought i ought to check.

2). same car, stock rims, is it going to be okay to wax them along with the car? i understand that wax harms chrome, but i'm pretty sure the max's aren't chrome. thanks for the input.

You can wax them; the stock aluminum SE alloy wheels do have a clearcoat on them I believe. Speaking of which, I really need to detail my car soon... I should clean/wax the wheels along with it

3k sounds about right from what I recall.....I'll check next time I drive anywhere...I may be pushing a few hundred more rpm at 80 because I have a roof rack that gives me a little extra wind resistance though....

I think I'm pushing more like ~3.1-3.3K rpm in my 5-speed in 5th gear... I am on 235/45-17 tires rather than OEM 225/50-17, not sure if that makes a huge enough difference

thanks!! hey, i've got some picks of the max after i put the Meguiar's 3 step process, the rims look much better now. i'm reluctant to put the pics on here, cuz no one likes to look at a stock max, but it's super clean right now though. thanks for the advice!

i like to look at a stock max every once in a while. You sure don't see them very often here on the org

80 mph in 5th gear at 3200 rpm. That provides for poor gas mileage on hwy but greater passing power even in 5th gear
