Spark Plugs Wire set!

Hey Guys,
What do you reccomend for replacing spark plugs and wires, I am thinking about changing them soon, anything else I should replace when I change these?
Thanks

you want make to take a look under the hood so you will see we dont have wires. the last max use to wires is the 3rd gen. we have a direct igntion with no distributor cap, rotor or wires. just the coils and plugs. there is no need to replace the coils unless you are getting misfiring from one or more cylinders. i personally recommend using NGK plugs either in platnium or copper. if you want longevity then go with the plats as the copper plugs will break down faster. i choose copper because it burns hotter and i dont mind replacing them one a year.

i put about 14-16k on the odo a year. some have said you can put 30k on copper plugs and i am sure you can but id rather have the car running in the best condition so i just change them once a year in the spring. even at 15k, they have a decent amount of wear on them as did my plats with only 30k on them. for a $1.50 a plug i dont mind the routine.

fyi, you can jam 60k on your average plugs unless you drive racing style.

lol I have copper spark plugs in mine now, I drive around ~40-50K/year so I'd definitely be changing mine every year... if not every 6 months (I'm switching back to platinum next time around; f*** that sh*t)

i would disagree, changing the plugs is very simple unless you put 100k miles on them. i would pass on that job but in general the plugs are very easy job. just as a note, my mechanical ability is pretty basic. one thing i do not want to do again is drop the pan on the tranny. i did not enjoy wearing the tranny fluid.

When someone is asking about the spark wires on their 00 Max, then they shouldn't change them alone. Might mess something up pretty bad.

By the way, what's the dropping the pan on the tranny all about?

cleaning the pan, changing the fluid, and replacing the gasket. I helped somewhat and it was the biggest PITA getting the POS paper gasket off the metal pan.

There are no plug wires. I don't see why someone shouldn't change their plugs even if they've never done it before. If you know where they are, and know how to use a socket wrench, changing them is only slightly tougher than say, toasting a slice of bread.

dont remind me, its time for another drain and refill. by the way, you wont mess anything up by changing the spark plug wires because you wont get very far because there are none. it is very feasible to change the coils but you should never have to replace the wire leading to the coils unless you cut them.

I know that there are no wires, but crazixpaki don't know. I just did my plugs last thrusday, took me like 30 minutes.

I've wondered the same thing before. Maybe crazixpaki just got his Maxima. I've always driven cars with cap and rotor so I assumed Maxima was the same deal. Not knowing Maximas have direct ignition system doesn't make anybody stupid or screw up on something real bad.
